Hopefully playing against easier teams than the Atlantic Division teams and playing against each other more often will be enough for teams like Arizona and Chicago to finish ahead of the Habs.

I think the Habs will be in the mix but around the fringe (7th or 8th) and it comes down to how they start and what kind of momentum they have.

* If we come out flat and face injures again, it could have ripple effects and it's another bottom 5.

* If we come out looking solid and generate offense with our style of play with MSL and gain momentum/confidence, and also avoid multiple injuries, I can certainly see a 8-12 range pick.

Lots of fans want that bottom 5 or bottom 3 finish. I get it but I'm not going to get emotionally tied to that until December/January.

I will say with confidence that we will score goals but we will also be scored on. I think the entertainment package will be solid for fans while we watch youth grow and also see MSL mature as a coach. This is good for business while we focus on development.

I remember last summer everyone counting up all the 20 goal scorers we had and thinking the same.

I think the reality is when your D can't move the puck, your forwards just can't perform up to par, even if on paper they're decent.

Habs have an approximately 8% chance of drafting Bedard. Given that, I'd rather see a broader discussion of the top ten.

Habs need a first pairing dman and/or a first line forward.

I think Chicago and Arizona are clearly worse than us, and we'll finish somewhere between 3-8 in a tier with San Jose, Philly, Anaheim, Buffalo, and Seattle. How high or low will depend a lot on what Matheson is, how some of our young dmen play, and if Price is able to play or not, and I guess whether or not we trade for Dubois but I don't know if that's a massive impact on its own.

East is so good. We play 50 Games vs east teams. Let's say we play for.400, we would get 40 points. And lets say we play for .500 vs west teams, its maximum 72 points. Thats likely a Botton 5 finish.

Current estimated point totals for Montreal is 71 points, so good call. That's actually a 16 point improvement over last year, so we can improve and still suck.

Assuming frequentist statistics (lol), the odds of the Habs having the top two picks (with Florida) are approximately 496 to 1 :)

We MUST finish LAST.

Not 31th or 30th.

Last has a much higher chance of getting a Top 2 pick, which is exactly what we need.

CHICAGO is CLEARLY doing it on purpose. They are hard at work for their 50% chance at Bedard/Michkov. This should be ours.

Tank to the extreme. This year is the year.

The east is freaking stacked even more than last year. We don't need to finish last this season , Im pretty sure the last team wont win the lottery twice in a row. We have more chance to get 1st oa by finishing bottom 5 l0l

Looking at the Habs roster, especially the defence I think they finish last or 2nd last in the East, which should put them bottom 5 going into the lottery. I expect a lot of the bottom teams in the East to be better than last year (that includes NJ, Ottawa, Detroit, and Buffalo).

They will also have one of the toughest schedules in the NHL this season, a lot tougher than Chicago or Arizona will have. Of course I expect the Habs to face a lot of back-up goalies this season, which won’t help.

It would also be 3 years in a row that the last place team retains by winning the draw, which hasn't happened since 08-10 when the odds were fairly better for the bottom 5 teams.

Right now I think Michkov and Bedard deserve the same hype. There's still lots of hockey to be played before now and next draft but as of today, I would be equally happy with either one.

Is Florida’s pick protected? Hopefully they crumble after that playoff performance and give us a lotto pick.

We'll finish last in Atlantic, but Arizona & Chicago have gone the way of the Buffalo Sabres, although credit to Arizona for at least getting a zillion draft picks which Sabres/Chicago didn't do.
