Would you guys be more interested in the team if they played mainly Canadian teams? I would find more joy beating "Halifax" or "London" instead of Sussex County. Not sure of any other cities that could support a team, maybe Sherbrooke?

Personally I enjoyed it when the Winnipeg Goldeyes played Edmonton and Calgary. So I am glad that the Goldeyes get to play Ottawa and the other Canadian teams

Ottawa plays 33 of its 96 games against Canadian opposition - 14 against Quebec, 13 against Trois-Rivieres, and 6 against WPG.

Judging by the number of Canadian minor pro teams that have folded across the country, I'd say having 3/6 teams in a league Canadian is a pretty good benchmark.

The idea of a Canadian Baseball League is long dead, unfortunately.

Do I have to be the one to say it? 'Champions' is no sort of name for a team, it's a title given to teams that win

Anyway, cynicism aside I'll support this team when I can, though I don't think baseball in Ottawa will ever have the draw it did back in the Lynx/Expos days.

Then down 8-6, then tied 8-8 and now ahead 9-8 top of 9th

Final Champs win 9-8

Wow, crazy game! Wish I could have followed this one.

You're a little late to that party.

Shame about the last couple games, we got demo'ed. I wasn't able to make it to opening weekend on account of being in wonderful Pembroke. This Summer weather is gonna help attendance for sure, though.

10:30am start, that must have been pretty cool.

Can we change the thread title to OT: Ottawa Rapidz Fat Cats Champions 2015 season or something?

Rockland's attendance numbers are an absolute joke. The doubleheader's attendance was announced as just over 1,900, but the place was empty. Looked like maybe 500 people.

As for the over 5,000 mark on the school day game, their stadium's capacity is 4,506. It was about half full for that game.

I understand inflating numbers by a few hundred, but really? :shakehead

If Montreal can find a way to get MLB back, I'd love to see a Lynx revival.

I don't think we'd get another AAA franchise, but if Montreal brought a team back I don't know how Ottawa couldn't have an affiliated team at some level.

The best league for this city is the short season NY-Penn League. Vancouver has a team in that league's western equivalent and it thrives.

I'm actually really enjoying this team/league. They treat themselves professionally (streaming all games, no weird gimmicks etc...) and overall it's an excellent value to go to games.

The logo and team identity stuff is pretty ballin' too. The cap logo is better than some MLB teams imo.

looking for the name of the fat clean up hitter that played for the Lynx towards the end. I think he got called up for a few games for the Orioles but never made it big time. Anyone remember?

I loved watching Walter Young when he was on the Goldeyes. I remember being at a game saying "all the guy does is strikeout and hit dingers" Sure enough two pitches later..over the right field fence. He was fun to watch at 1st base too.
