it comes with the territory down here sometimes, but what I can't understand is why Halttunen was taking so much punishment. Not like he was much of a factor in Wednesday's game. I enjoy the dirtiness in the AHL sometimes. Gives the league sort of an unrefined charm.

Relatedly, the Barracuda actually lead the league in penalty minutes now. Coe and Vincent both got misconducts at the end (see 1:45 of the above video. Seriously, I like seeing that from Coe). It's just funny how little I care about that stat since we're doing well in so many other categories.

Yeah Vincent was right in front of me yelling with either McKay or Quinney when the ref told him to go. I think it stems from a McKay spear on Hache earlier in the period.

Not sure why Halt was the unlucky recipient. He took a crosscheck to the side in the first that left him struggling on the bench.

How has Bystedt looked so far? Just curious since he is from my home town team over here in Sweden, he was so so last season so there's some hope that he flops and can return home(and hopefully improve upon that) I guess.

Yeahhhh no, that's not happening.

He has been great here. Even better than expected. He's scoring, he's killing penalties, he's physical. He's one of our top three forwards.

Bystedt is outperforming Lambert and Kulich, who several of the draft experts on here were mad that we passed on, in the AHL so far.

He also doesn't necessarily need to be a top six forward to stick in the NHL so I'd be surprised if he doesn't find a role with the Sharks.

I agree, but I don't expect him to be much more than a 3C. A lesser Danault.

Locking down a great 3C would be huge. Jordan Staal, Yanni Gourde, etc. all huge pieces for cup-winning teams. That's a great get from a low 1st round pick. I'm a bit more bummed by how the Sharks used the 2nd round picks they got by trading down since those 2 are looking kinda bust-y...but Bystedt looks great, very excited to see how he does in the NHL.

At this point there's really only 3 players drafted after Havelid that would have been nice: Poitras, Casey and Hutson. Guys like Luneau and Mitten, even though they've had tastes of the NHL life, are still unknowns in their own right.

Havelid is most likely a bust but Lund should be signed to an ELC and given NHL games at the end of this season. I think he could be dominating the AHL this time next year the way Graf is right now.

Unfortunate. Not the biggest loss considering his impact last season but no doubt in my mind he will turn out to be a top tier SHL caliber player and likely a decent bottom 6 NHL:er, more than that would surprise me, then again Vrana(albeit briefly) managed and he was not all that special here so who knows. Hopefully he comes back before he is totally done.

Week to week and day to day and sometimes just "banged up" or "dealing with injury." And then it's like a fun surprise when they return.
Week to week = at least a month
Day to day = more than a week
Banged up = day to day
Dealing with an injury = stop asking about it
