What a difference from last year. A highly skilled team. Our fourth line this year would have been the second line last year. There was some sloppiness for sure, but there is a lot of skill on this team, nothing like last year. Often looked like the puck was a yo yo on a string with some high end stick handling and crisp tape to tape passing. We go back to last years goaltending tandem and this is a 7-3 loss, Dell played a really strong game and is a great reminder of what pro level goaltending looks like. He must have faced at least 40 shots in regulation and made numerous high quality saves.

I thought Kniazev was the best overall Dman, night and day difference from the start of last season. I think the entire group of forwards looked really good again so refreshing to be so skilled. Players will shuttle up and down but this team is nothing like the dumpster fire that was last year. This should not have gone to OT, sloppiness bit them and ideally they learn from this. Still got the win and the exp. There is NHL level talent on this team for sure.

That was MG’s outlook.

That was a thing of beauty. I thought the forwards had looked pretty lackluster until that last rush for the goal. DMen and goaltending had been the better performers of the period.

Agree on both, we're up 2-0 but the forwards haven't been anything special thus far.

Got gifted tickets to the Sharks tonight because of the Barracuda season tickets so I'll miss most of this one, but not convinced we aren't going to let Iowa back in it.

Eklund's goal:

I really like the construction of this team. Speed, skill, grit, solid goaltending, the whole enchilada.

Merks, Eklund, and Kniazev were the best players on the ice tonight in my opinion. It feels like the coach pulled them back in a bit to be more structured tonight, which gave them a nice solid 3-1 win. Onyebuchi looks quicker this year, improved foot speed which was what held him back a bit last year. Onyebuchi, Viel, and Raska are very tough to play against. Once they put it all together, and find a way to unleash the skill and creativity this will be a heck of a team.

I thought Makiniemi looked great, again, competent pro level goaltending makes a huge difference. Maybe he should be Mecha-Niemi with his robotic like precision. Anyway, another good game for the Cuda and player development!

I was hoping that Mak was going to be a sneaky part of that trade. Starting off good.

What's the reason for Coe out last game and Gushchin out tonight?

Gushchin was more or less invisible last night. If Coe was going to draw in for anyone, it was going to be him.

I'm a little torn on Gushchin so far and feel like my opinion about him won't be popular, but when I see him all I can think is "Ivan Chekhovich."

It's the first couple games on the first year of his ELC, though, he's got plenty of time.
