Hobo do you have us covered for tonight? :) I’ll catch the game on replay but I’m out tonight.

Couple noteworthy changes tonight. Hamaliuk makes his debut. Chmelevski is back at center for the first time in a while. Halbgewachs moved into a more prominent role, which I think is smart considering how the game played out yesterday.

edit: Sawchenko in net for the first time, too.

 Yeah, I'll be watching. I was on the fence about getting the away-only AHL TV this season (since I'll be at the home games once again) but I went for it in the end.

Thank you!! I’ll be checking in. I picked up the whole AHL package because I’ve got fans of other teams in the house.

It was all Barracuda at the start, but Colorado took all the momentum at the halfway point of the first out of nowhere. 2-1 Eagles after the 1st. Game is getting pretty contentious as well.

SJ's goal was on the PP, a Halbgewachs redirect of a Merkley point shot.

Seems like Hamaliuk is a bust? Middling junior career...

I've yet to see anything about Hamaliuk that's been impressive. I'm not sure if anyone has.

I'm surprised they even bothered signing him tbh. He's been on a pretty consistent downtrend since he was drafted

Colorado outshot the Barracuda 16-5 in the second, and it really felt like it.

However, the Barracuda score the only goal of the period anyway. Halbgewachs from Merkley, just like the first one. 2-2 after the second.

Noah Gregor redirects a Nick Merkley shot on the PP after a really stupid cross-checking penalty by Andreas Englund early in the third. Colorado puts up 47 shots, but still lose 3-2. Sawchenko was great down the stretch.

Uncharacteristically few shots by Blichfeld in his first two games. Did he play well evenso or does it mirror his efforts?

I'm curious what Blichfeld's injury was at the start of the year, because he's not nearly as threatening in the offensive zone at the moment. Course his whole line has felt like they're playing disjointed hockey.

In fact, while I'm on the topic, it's only been three games but I'm still waiting for the guys who previously did well in the AHL to show up. Gregor got one today and was pretty good, but Kellman, Gambrell, Blichfeld have yet to do much of anything out there. Gambrell, especially, has been invisible. Best forwards for this team have been Nick Merkley, and today Halbgewachs (goal, assist and 8 SOG for Halbgewachs today). This team should be stacked at forward, but the big names are coming up empty.

I'd argue the Eagles outplayed the Barracuda in both games this weekend but still managed to lose twice. And we've got them again on Friday in our home opener. I think I'd like to see the Barracuda play some different opponents before I judge them. It feels like the Eagles' playstyle flusters them a lot out there.

late edit: Apparently they changed the first goal and said it went off Reedy after Halbgewachs deflected it, so only one goal for Halbgewachs tonight. Don't know when that change was made but there wasn't any mention of it on-air.

Did Merkley pass the puck to Halbgewachs or was it a rebound off a scoop shot from Merkley that found its way to Halbgewachs? I legit can’t tell from this moving picture GIF that is 4 frames per second.

The second one. The Barracuda later put up a better quality clip, here:

I also like this version as it shows Halbgewachs getting the puck to Merkley to spring this play in the first place.

Thanks. I was reading the description in the tweet and then watching the GIF thinking ”Gutnick really made it seem like Merkley tee’d this up for Halbgewachs, but I don’t get the physics of this pass - maybe Merkley just sauced the sauciest of all saucers cross-ice at like 6mph directly on to Halbgewachs tape. Or… it’s what my eyes are telling me, it was a rebound off a shot.”

Thanks. I was reading the description in the tweet and then watching the GIF thinking ”he really made it seem like Merkley tee’d this up for him, but I don’t get the physics of this pass - maybe Merkley just sauced the sauciest of all saucers cross-ice at like 6mph directly on to Halbgewachs tape. Yeah, I'll defend him a bit on this. The stream was not great quality in real time. It actually looked to me like Merkley crossed one direct to Halbgewachs when I saw it, but when I gave it a second look during the intermission, it was pretty obvious that wasn't the case.

I might wait until the Barracuda upload their videos if I'm linking highlights this season, which I hadn't done before- Gutnick is getting his out quicker, but the team's clips are a step up from what they've been putting out in previous years.

No defense necessary. It’s yeoman’s work both of you are doing - so no complaints from my end. I just couldn’t make up my mind on which version of the play actually happened. Frankly, I was hoping it was the sauciest saucer sauce. Why do you have to crush my dreams?

Defenseman Cole Moberg has been recalled from the ECHL.

Was expecting them to call up a forward after Gambrell's departure, but there's still a couple days before their next game.

Mark calendars for November 17. Lots of announcements for new arena/next season stuff (STH deposits, etc.).

Gambrell wasn't mentioned. But they like the depth (added something like 37 players in organization in last couple of seasons from draft, waivers, trades, free agency.
