Barkov is the captain only in the sense that he has the letter on his back...

Tkachad joins and we have our 2 best postseason runs in franchise history. Coincidence? I think not.

Aleksander will always and forever be known as Beta Barkov.

The team is still better with Barkov with the C. Chuck pushes him to be the best he can be imo, he knows a motivated Barkov is what this team needs to be pushed over the edge. Like Maurice says, Chuck has a keen sense of gamesmanship and what the team needs during a specific game or period...but I believe he can scan a room and tell what a room needs as well to be most successful.

@I am not exposed you liked this shit?

All i needed to ever hear, even just once, to not put up with any of the above?

"CAPTAIN ALEKSANDER BARKOV- COME GET THE STANLEY CUP"
The Beta thing is dumb. Barkov is the most talented player and most valuable to this teams success overall. Watching the NHL Faceoff series, its obvious Tkachuk is the public face and heart of this franchise. You can have a debate on whether you prefer a vocal leader or not, but there is no doubt Barkov is the man.
Got that right!

After June 24, 2024...i just can't with some ppl...

If Barkov scores an own goal, kills my mom, and rapes my dog- I bow say thank you and drop to my knees to apologize for not having another mom and dog to offer our Stanley Cup Championship winning Captain.

Betas don't captain Stanley Cup Championship winners.

I think they're the two sides of this franchise, and what makes this team so amazing - and we need both. It's easy to caricature Tkachuk as the heart, guts and compete of the team, and Barkov as the skill, intelligence and conscience - but they're obviously much more similar with those qualities than they are different. Athough they show it in very different ways, I think fundamentally they are both team-first players, and that shows up in how they lead and how they play on the ice.

PS. There's just something about how Barkov is so bloody talented yet so humble and self-effacing that makes me almost feral in defense of him. It's like "HOW DARE YOU NOT RECOGNISE HIS GREATNESS YOU MOTHAf***ERS!!!!!! f*** YOU!! And other well-reasoned arguments on the internet...

I know you are joking around, but it bears saying:

Barkov is the best player in the history of this franchise, the best captain it's ever had, and an absolute blessing for everyone who has ever suffered watching this team during the dark years.

Don't ever get that twisted.
I'll always have a soft spot for Luongo cause I feel like people don't realize how good he was in Florida.

7 of his 10 best seasons statistically were in Florida. He finished top 10 in sv% leaguewide as a panther the same amount of times.

in particular though, his first 5 years as a Panther he did it behind one of the worst teams in the league (always bottom 10 in GF and GA in that 5 year stretch), and in that timeframe he faced the most shots, was 3rd in GP, and had the highest sv%. Was arguably the best goalie in the league even before joining the Canucks.

Such a shame, I don't think any other top 3 goalie has played on worse teams this century..

However, I do agree among skaters, when considering overall career and consistency year in and year out, no one beats Barkov. He really is a special player.. will go down as the greatest Panther of all time if he isn't already and probably a top 3-5 Finnish player.

Just glad his talent wasn't wasted like Bure and Luongo. Imagine having the best goalscorer and best goalie of their time and only having 4 playoff games to show for it in 7 years.

Lu is a HOFer, but Barky basically has/will have the longevity here. He's a top 5 center in an era that has McDavid, Drai, and Mac. Has captained a Cup champ and has 2 Selkes, and will win more. Probably wins it again this season. He'll have a pretty spectacular resume when he's retired and should be a HOFer as well .

Barkov won’t win it this year due to voters fatigue. Even though he has no one close to his impact,

So how has Barkov played this season vs last season? Is he showing any signs of slowing down?

Also, he still seems to be very injury prone yes?

Best player on the team. And yes, he does get dinged up frequently, because he doesn't make business decisions on the ice. Missed several games this season after injuring himself diving to stop an empty net goal in a game that was extremely over.

There has been a stealth firmware upgrade. It’s still a beta version, BUT the evidence is clear. Barky scored an EN today. In a wimpy fashion, but it counts.

I've always felt his injury proness is kinda exaggerated. He played 54 games in his rookie season but after that his lowest amount is 61 games not counting the obvious exception of the 56 game covid season in which he played 50 games. So he maybe does get injured quite often but not that badly.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't missed a single playoff game?
