No Petrov? Jarventie may as well be Waldo at this point.

Guys like Savoie and Grubbe could learn a shit ton from Ryan.
Condors play by play guy was on a local radio broadcast last day or two and mentioned that Petrov should be back in the line up soon.
Doesn’t expect Jar Jarventie back anytime soon, & he did not disclose what his injury was.

Yeah hopefully Ryan is a good leader down there. I don't doubt he will be. There are worse things to do than play out the final half season of your career down in California making a few hundred grand in an easier league.

Brown on the third pairing eh

I still would love somehow Ryan to get his ring/name on the cup. Wonder if he could join the staff or something

I'm sure Ryan will become a coach, much like Perry in the next year or so. I also think Gagner returns "home" eventually and joins our front office in some capacity.

I can see Ryan becoming an AC in the AHL, Perry a skills coach, and Gagner a Special Advisor/Assistant to Jackson and Bowman.

I think he would be perfect in a player/assistant coach role. Let him keep playing and also get him into a coaching capacity as he finishes his career

The tough part about it is his family has to stay in Edmonton most of the time as his kids are in school here I believe.

That said he's made more than enough money to afford flying the kids out a couple of weekends a month if need be.

He's carved out a very nice NHL career in limited talent but a huge heart, and now in the twilight, gets to finish in southern California for a chunk of the winter. He'll be okay.

its kinda crazy but as far as the oilers are concerned the entire existence of this farm team right now is just about matt savoie isnt it? i mean.. long run outside cup of coffee shots for rodrigue and kemp and a couple possible veteran 1 day fill-in types... but mostly just Savoie

One of the main downsides to Holland and Wright just drafting out of Europe and the NCAA.

Any decent prospect is still playing in those leagues.
