Gotta figure Philip gets some games here pretty soon. Ryan is getting healthy scratched at C in favor of a guy who hasn't played C in the NHL in many years (although Janmark is doing okay I suppose outside of faceoffs, but he isn't killing it either). Ryan is ancient and hasn't looked good at all really. Ryan has the least points on the entire team for one of the "regulars", is close to team worst for +/-, and is 2nd worst for xGF% on the team. Basically Ryan has been dogshit outside of faceoffs (where he admittedly is fantastic), and Philp is likely already quite a bit better than him right now. In fact Philp has a slightly better xGF% than Ryan in a ridiculously small sample size, but that sample was also from when the Oilers weren't playing well at the beginning of the season. Philp would also be a slightly lower cap hit ($125k less).
Philp should be called up and Ryan sent down really any day now, and its kinda strange it hasn't happened already to be honest.
I'm less sure what I would do with Savoie. My inclination is to keep him in the minors and let him play mondo-minutes and score points, now that is he is having good success over the last 10 GP. Although those that watch the Condors games have been saying he's been positive all season really, just wasn't getting any puck luck. One of the issues with Savoie is: who do you sit or send down? Kapanen has been passable and has low cap hit. Perry has actually been pretty decent, and I don't think they are going to move him to minors. Podz isn't going anywhere. I guess maybe if they decide to trade Skinner (assuming Skinner would waive his NMC) or if they decide to drop Kapanen. It might just have to be that Savoie comes in for injury relief for the playoffs (barring lots of injury woes hitting the team in the regular season that is)
