id be interested in JPs goals for % int he AHL. Its honestly probably 80%. seems like hes on the ice for all his teams goals (along with Lander/Laleggia)

osterle scored a pretty nice one where he carved up the NZ and beat a D wide. Goal itself was a softie from so far away. But he got the puck there in the first place

Yeah Pulju especially stays on the ice for a long time quite often, but he seems to still have decent skating legs by the end of his long shifts. I'm not sure if they're being given freedom to stay on or if they're just not utilizing offensive zone changes as much. To be fair, at the NHL level the Maroon-McDavid-Drai line tend to do the same thing, and McDavid especially because he can still skate faster than most people after a 2 minute shift.

I started to pay attention to it when I noticed Beck play the whole 4on4.
They all are guilty for it, including Pulju and at times they have started to get bit lazy.

Pretty alright for Lander line

How many games has it been now since the Laleggia-Lander-Pulju game were united? I think they're something like +12 in that time frame, which is impressive given that I think its only been 6 or 7 games at most.

Laleggia is a bit of found money. I think at D he was about to be lost in the shuffle next year with influx of d prospects entering AHL. At forward hes been doing very well. I dont know if hes get on a NHL future at forward but if he continues to progress he can be a very good ahl player and even NHL call up. Given our clear lack of skilled forward prospects and over abundance of LHD, Laleggia went from low on prospect depth chart to pretty high

Went to theahl.com site to check the stats and saw this story on the front page:

lol. Story about Eakins and controlling the diet of his players. So many memories come to mind...

Stories like that make you kind of appreciate his mindset. He's not wrong. Professional athletes should treat their bodies like expensive, competitive race cars. Don't put garbage in it. But that's about where it ends for me. Just an awful, awful hockey coach.

In general for sure he is right. I imagine his approach is what doesn't quite work out for him :) You can get away with that with AHLers, while you hold the keys to their professional future. But, in the NHL with millionaires and big personalities, probably doesn't go over as well when you're trying to micromanage their eating habits. And then on top of that he has to start treating the media like they're pigs too, lol.

Bakersfield is really starting to hit their stride. I'd like to give Lander and Puljujarvi to come up together next season and give them a real shot to win 3rd line spots. If not, I hope Lander gets a chance with another organization because he deserves a chance to play in the NHL. Is LaLeggia a legit forward prospect now?

Unless Lander adds a gear he wont be a 3rd liner. Puljujarvi will be fine playing away from Anton at the NHL level, in the meantime his confidence is growing playing top line minutes with one of the AHL's best. When he eventually plays with Drai or McDavid he will be getting similar scoring chances at the NH level so it's important that he works on his polish in the meantime.

I'd say so. He's on the smaller side, but he's a great skater both in terms of speed and lateral movement. He's got good vision and has a very solid shot. I don't know if he'll end up making it to the NHL level, but I think there's potential for him to become a Caggiula type winger with good speed and offensive abilities.

I'm just not sure that I see Pulju jumping directly to the top 6 right away next season but of course that depends on how much he grows in the offseason.

Lander's time here is likely done but I think it's a shame because he showed well this season and was even creating some offense but got the shaft which I'm sure must be frustrating for him. I'm assuming that he signs elsewhere next season to get a real opportunity to play in the NHL.

I believe we still own Lander's rights do we not? I'd think that the team would want to bring him back even if its just to give him a shot in training camp or to have as a depth call up assuming he clears waivers.

I thought he was a UFA after this season, same with Pitlick. Just looked it up and he is.
I just think that he'll go to a place that will give him an opportunity to play in the NHL, he has nothing more to prove at the AHL level.

If he's not in the top 6 then he should stay on the farm unless we have an offensive minded 3C.

I see a 4C in Lander unless he adds a step, tough to create much offense when you are average sized and are a bit on the slow side.

Pulju played his worst games with Caggiula and Pouliot and I don't think that was an ideal combination. I agree that Pulju needs someone who can score when he creates an opportunity, or someone who can create places for Pulju. Hopefully he would be ready to get the post hits in the net this time.

Oh I was going off cap friendly, but I do recall some people talking about a condition in RFA status where a certain number of games qualifies them for UFA status although I'm not really familiar with the rule. I had just assumed he was an RFA still as he's only played 6 seasons in the organization and came over at 20.

Pitlick will be a group 6 UFA because he is 25 and has not played 80 games in the NHL. Lander is an RFA.

Thanks for that.

I think Pitlick re-signs here. Had a good thing going and really had the coach's trust to move him up and down the lineup. Hope he picks up where he left off next season as he's the perfect crash and bang 3rd/4th line goal scorer.

The issue with that line IMO was that Caggiula was too green to centre a line with another rookie. JP needs a vet centre...DD may be just the ticket.

Similar to what Roy was able to do for Yak except that JP is twice the hockey player that Yak is.
