VERY happy to see the point spread grow bigger between Minny and ourselves. Also happy to see Dallas falling like bricks in the standings. Also f*** the Avs.

The Jets are bloody good enough to finish numero uno in the Central, and I won't accept anything less. If they don’t, it means they didn't work hard enough. Full stop.
Or you know injuries run rampant through our line up.

Good teams can handle injuries, with other players stepping up to fill roles left empty by injuries.

If you read the offseason threads you'd have thought Chevy did nothing this summer. Fleury has been able to fill Sammy's absence to some extent. Chibrikov filled Ehlers absence. But Jets are running relatively healthy .

Wallstedt was not strong on a couple of goals. While Helly makes saves look routine.

Seeing guys like Gaunce, Shore, Travis Boyd out there for the Wild, the Jets have the 4th line advantage. No Eriksson Ek and Middleton is huge for the Wild. No replacements there internally. Relying on vets like Merrill and Bogo to step up with more key minutes in a back to back.

I wonder what the analysis is between Heinola and Chisholm as protected #6 d-men in two head to heads.

Feel good win. Best 1st period in a while. Good special teams. Coaches are probably going to work on breakdowns that didn't go in the back of the net, but that will be more exposed against a bigger tougher Toronto team.

I wanted to thank you all for the kind words and sharing stories of your own. Other perspectives and experiences are of value to me. Especially from the generations that have come before. So much is lost, if it's not passed down. The city of Winnipeg and the game of hockey have a special bond, that make for a unique and passionate fanbase.

Ended up missing a good chunk of the game. It was a busy day running errands, preparing to host Christmas Eve dinner and my brother in law over the holidays. Made it home by the time the first period was underway, but spent it reading my little girl some Curious George. She is precious beyond words and become my number 1 priority. Still too young to watch TV yet, but she's snuck a few glances at the Jets this season. I have a feeling we'll be watching games together soon.

Good call @DharmaBum on Helle getting a shutout tonight. A second straight Vezina is his to lose. Find it unsurprisingly lame that Leon is getting wanked in all the Hart discussions, but haven't heard one pundit mention Winnipeg's #37. (Btw, fair play if she's not your cup of tea, but in her heyday, Mariah Carey was something else. Unreal voice on her)

The Wild might have been on the second of a btb, but the boys took care of business. Honestly, it's nice that the schedule was in their favor for a change. Glad that the Beer League Barron tucked one. The jury is still out on Minnesota, but I reckon they're a bit of a paper tiger. They've made bank off teams in the bottom half of the table. I believe they haven't scored a goal in 17 periods now, that Kaprizov wasn't involved in.

Side note: I consider the three main rivals of the Jets to be Minnesota, Edmonton and Vegas. Minnesota - based on proximity and similarities. Edmonton - inherited hatred passed on from the OG fans who suffered at their hands in the 80's. Vegas - the antithesis of our club and our city. My hatred for them is on a different level.

Seems like many a joyus evening was had. Let's keep the festive spirits high and the momentum going against Toronto!

Just wanted to thank @Ponds for the great GDT yesterday, it was so refreshing to talk about some great stories about us and the Jets. :thumbu: And only one dumbass that gets hit with a puck at a game by not paying attention.:naughty: I can't even use the excuse about being on my phone because back then all you could do is actually call people with your cell and it was the size of your shoe .

Depends on who. I mean how many number 1 centres do you think a team can afford to keep in the wings. Number 1 goalies. A lot of good teams can’t handle injuries and it’s what derails their seasons. Minnesota was supposed to be good a few injuries later not so much. Depends on who in lineup.
That or pretty much no teams meet your standards of good ina cap world.
Teams have survived, but, can’t think of one who stayed in first place.
Tb survived without much, but, what if you also take away vasi and Herman. Doubt they’d finish in first place.

Ville is going to get a chance to play on his normal side while Stanley is out and that's a good thing. Will give the Jets a real good viewing on where his play is thus far in his short NHL career.
Isn’t Berg back by end of month?

Mild forecheck from a tired team. Morrissey took the PK minutes from Stan and was lucky he didn't get scored on. It won't last, but the complaining will resume soon enough.

I was at a friends Christmas party last night. Really fun evening with the Jets game on as we ate, drank, played holiday games. Really followed the theme of the GDT as multiple families and more importantly multiple generations sat around sharing a collective Jets /festive experience.

I thought we looked good, at the same time the Wild looked tired and beat up. Our company rented a suite at the game last night and we filled it with 20 people that we work together with (and spouses/partners), sadly I couldn’t make it to this one due to the family party. The good news is there was no bad option last night.

The team looks different with Ehlers playing on the second line. With Nik it’s a second line, without him it’s a 3rd line. He can be frustrating at times but he is a game breaker and an important piece of the puzzle.

Happy to see Perfetti with a 3 point night. I feel like he has been playing well lately while not getting rewarded on the score sheet. Nice to see that even out a bit.

The Hellebuyck era is glorious. The biggest challenge for me is not taking his talent for granted. He will retire one day and I will miss him.

Really wish we didn’t have a game vs the Leafs tomorrow at 1:00. This would have been a great way to head into the break.

I hope you are wrong and Heinola turns out to be a capable pker and the team never needs anyone else again, but will believe it when I see it.

Would the Jets could command every game the way they commanded this one. There was no excuse for letting the Sharks and Ducks do what they did.
It's not about the battles, it's about the war. Just checked the standings and it seems the Jets are winning the war.

Helly is on trajectory to be the best of all time. Yup...I said it.
