I am NOT "way way off".
You are entitled to set the price you'll pay
You are not entitled to set the price demanded

We have zero reason to sell Quick, espec cheap, to anybody
have to have a signif enuf reason, or forget it

This is not a generic run of the mill retread.
This is a HOF winner, had a brief cold run couple yrs ago, found his game under Benoit Allaire, and demonstrated such

you get what you pay for
if you are ambivalent about upgrading backup netminder, fine
if you are serious, you pay the market rate

if you have equiv of quick for less, sure -- but eye test there says no

So the bidding for Quick starts w/Greig or you can stand pat
Show me anything I said that would indicate any interest in Quick, or where anyone has expressed interest in trading anything of value for a backup.

Til then, you are way, way, way, way off.

PS Quick wont return a player of Greigs caliber from any team and under any circumstance. You are free to agree or disagree, but I’m not going to argue with you.

Citizen X : "I'm looking for that kind of car for around 10 K$"

Bern : "I have one! I am asking for 20 K$!"

Citizen X : "Pass, I am looking to pay market value"

Bern : "Yeah but I'm asking that price because I have no reason to sell the car..."

Nyquil : "ok."

How fast and easy can people lose the plot these days is beyond me. Thanks for the meme though.

calling out this bs

1. YOU say market value is less -- does not make it so
Rs hold the asset.
They set the market by agreeing to sell or holding the asset.
Competitive bids [or lack thereof] help suggest a price
but the owner of the asset ultimately sets the price

2. Don't want to/have to sell is just to establish that there is no sufficient force pushing back prompting me to sell.
Yes, adding a pick is almost always good
But if the pick is not worth it/return assets are not good enuf
then why bother?

the market value for a generic replacement G may indeed be less than Quick, but by definition that is not Quick
pay or move on

I would cede any goalie over 38, too, but maybe thats just my holiday generosity
1. do not need to use prior history to justify, b'c core pt remains, seller (Rs) control the asking price

2. Very busy but off top of my head wasn't MAF one recent instance that basically fits this picture:
from Wikipedia:
"On June 21, 2017, with the emergence of Matt Murray, Fleury willingly waived his no trade and no movement clauses to be left exposed by the Penguins for the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, where he was subsequently selected by the Vegas Golden Knights.[55] Pittsburgh also traded their second round pick in the 2020 Entry Draft as an incentive for Vegas to select Fleury, in order for the team to be relieved of his nearly $6 million cap hit"
Grieg was a very late 1st

also wiki, Dom Hasek
"Before the start of the next season, Hašek was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in an attempt to lower the Sabres' payroll and to send Hašek to a more competitive team.[1] He was dealt for Vyacheslav Kozlov, a first-round selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and future considerations, which eventually became the draft pick of Jim Slater."

one can nitpick but ballpark this is a match
howev

again demonstrating prior example is not obliged b'c Rs ask/decision is not based on precedent
and even if it were, there is a first time for (almost) everything

Is Vejmelka, Kesselring, Crouse, & '25 1st enuf for Brady?
In a vacuum if the first is top 10, it's fair value. The issue is Sens are currently in a playoff spot and Brady is a piece that almost every team in the league wants, so for that you'd have to blow us away with an offer we can't refuse, which this isn't it.

No need to nitpick.

You provided the examples of (1) Dominik Hasek, who is the greatest goalie of all time and was traded at age 36, fresh on the heels of his 4th Vezina Trophy; and (2) the Penguins paying a 2nd rounder to MAKE SURE THEY WOULD GET RID OF 32 year old MAF. Not to mention that Greig's draft position has no impact on his current value.

agreed, but you can note while not required to win the pt, my examples included 2 guys who fit the profile and also returned a higher pick (1st/2nd).
{you wanted examples of high end Gs who got something comparable to Greig]

We can debate what is draft pick equivalent of Greig, but either pick is signif and extensive basis to that value, imo

You need to slow down your reading.

Pittsburgh gave up a 2nd to get rid of Fleury; they did not acquire it. It is the opposite of what you are saying. And no, the two guys do not fit the profile nor did they return a higher pick (Greig is a person, not a pick).

Enough is enough, let's cut this out.

What's the dealio with Søgaard? He needs waivers to go down to AHL next season...

Is he good enough to be Ullmark's backup next year? Or it's iffy but he looks okay so maybe OTT will try to trade him for a pick in the off-season? Or he looks legitimately not close to ready and they likely pencil him in as "waivers and playing in AHL with Merilainen" next year?

He has figured out the AHL but not the NHL, can't seem to be able to "make the jump" at the moment. I'm a goalie and I totally understand, every level there's a clear jump in speed/talent you have to deal with. Goaltending is really not as easy as it looks on TV.

Maybe he will eventually and he is still young (just turned 24 y/o) but as of now, he can't be relied on at that level.

He is the 4th best goalie in the system.

whether coming or going, receiving or sending, at that point in time it was a 2nd for MAF
Hasek was a first

Vez quality high end HOF netminders that side of 35-ish have that level of value [as a pick]
precedent establishes that

only ? is to extent you view Grieg as comparable to that level pick

Now that this item is sufficiently reviewed let us stay on topic w/OP ask.
what diff backups are there and what are the prices?

Yup, and it's not over. We're paying Korpisalo 1 M$ per season to play for the Bruins for 2 more years after this one. And most importantly, there's still a 1st round pick to forfeit due to the Dadonov fiasco

And the state of the prospect pool and general depth on the team is a testament to how much Dorion has damaged this team more than help it. Anybody can trade stars in their prime (Karlsson, Stone, Duchene, etc) and many would have gotten much better returns in the end. Anybody can also cumulate high end picks (but he even bothced most of them lmao)

At least the Hamonic burden will be over after this season.

Andrew Hammond and Mike Condon were really bad scouting. I called Hammond a flash in the pan right when he was posting these crazy good looking stats. Condon was an average back up at best to me.

Forsberg had a Top-10 season in 2021-22 but then got derailed by injuries.

All that said, Dorion is now gone at least.
The Hamburglar did swing some free hamburgers out of the deal, though.

Sweet bonus!
