Watching the gif, what was even the point of that hit when Jackman was so easily able to get possession of the puck there?

I'm admittedly terrible at judging what hit should and should not be suspended but I don't think whether this particular hit is suspendable should depend on whether Backes has been suspended in the past. It should stand on its own. Otherwise a guy can keep doing the exact same thing and get away with it forever because he's never been suspended.

Laughing at Blues fans that cried about Dustin Brown being dirty before he ever got a suspension now using the no suspension excuse to claim Backes isn't dirty. This looks like the last time you'll be able to use that excuse.

Wasn't dirty because there was no suspension, nor a major penalty. Needs a suspension to be dirty.

I mean, a guy isn't a dirty player until he gets suspended. Brown wasn't dirty until the end of his 9th season. Backes is about to be suspended in the middle of his 8th season. You're right: I am disrespecting Brown by mentioning him in the same breath as Backes who is a dirtier player based on the logic I've seen presented in this thread.

I'd take Backes on the Kings all day. I love the way he plays. He plays dirty from time to time though. I'm mainly just calling out Blues fans hypocrisy since Kings fans were roasted when arguing that Brown had never been suspended and was therefore not a dirty player.

I don't understand how anyone is saying Alzner put himself in a bad position. Backes begins to engage him from the numbers a country mile from the boards, he couldn't turn out of it if he wanted. I don't think Backes is dirty but that was a horrendous hit.

Bad hit, worth the major and maybe suspension, but disagree with the "dirty" player tag unless you apply it to every player that commits a boarding major. Backes does not go out of his way to attempt to injure with head shots/knees. If he does get a suspension/fine then it will be the first of his career.

As a fan of the NHL, I want this to warrant a suspension. And as a fan of the NHL I have no idea what to expect. As a fan of the blues I want no suspension and a cup .

And ill defend Backes all day. Love his play. But was too careless here. Lets get these dangerous and preventable hits out of the game please.

If so, suspension is automatic unless the commish clears him. I could see that happening for a borderline call, but this isn't so borderline. Personally I'd be very surprised if he didn't sit a game or two.
