That was a great shift. Matthews was getting Bert that goal no matter what.

I was out at the Princess of Wales watching Alladin with my family, and I missed all the fun.

What were the lines?

Who played 2C?
 
Great day all around.. made some hommade pizza with the fam, played around and created another badass cocktail, leafs destroy the Ducks, and Gudas gets his manhood taken away .

McMann has arrived. Happy as hell for him.

What a lost opportunity for Timmins this shortage on defence has been. It would have been a prime opportunity for him to get into games and show what he can do.

Similar to what happened to Robertson last year, when the Leafs were desperate for LW.

Nice to beat a bad team, Matthews hockeys good, Gudas does not hockey good, and Benoit must be the happiest MF’r to be out of that Anaheim dumpster

Agreed, prefer to have Willie with guys who can at least somewhat match his speed, that line is worth trying. JT should hopefully be more effective against weaker matchups when playing 3C, too.

Knies - Matthews - Marner
McMann - Domi - Nylander
Bertuzzi - JT - Robertson
Gregor - Kampf - Holmberg

I hate the fact that we've only won one playoff series with this core. I couldn't care less about running up the score against the last place team, more important to be ready for all the games coming up this week, some of them against good teams.

I hate that too, but you can't win a playoff series in February that's not how that works.

Of course, I'm just saying that for me personally, running up the score again Anaheim (or anyone for that matter) is a pointless exercise. I get why some people would enjoy that, it's just not me. I even stopped watching when it was 4-1, tuned it for a moment again later, saw that it was 8-1 and that was enough for me. Again, I get that that's entertaining for some people but for me, the season is just an 82 game warmup for the playoffs and what I would like, is to be pleasantly surprised by this team making some noise not in February, but when it really counts.

Indeed. JT's still a good hockey player, though I would like to see him heading up our 3rd line. Not sure why we're not trying that (OK I do know), JT vs 3rd lines could maybe do some serious damage.

It's inevitable that he ends up on the wing. Maybe we see it after the deadline if the Leafs acquire another top 6 forward.

That’s why a Walker/Laughton deal would be decent. Using a first on this kind of move I’m okay with.
 
What the numbers say the top 6 should be:

Knies/Matthews/Marner line 5v5 this season:
Shot Differential: 58.39%
High Danger Chance Differential: 59.45%
Expected Goal Differential: 57.16%
Goal Differential: 68.51%

Bertuzzi/Tavares/Nylander line 5v5 this season:
Shot Differential: 56.43%
High Danger Chance Differential: 63.18%
Expected Goal Differential: 60.16%
Goal Differential: 57.90%

Easily one of the best top 6 in hockey with this setup.
