Yeah, they can't have a guy playing 8 to 10 mins a night who can't play any special teams on the roster.I don’t even disagree but I think it’s early to write him off completely. Play as the 6/7 for a stretch and then make a call 30 ish games in.
If they had a legit 2RD, they could slow play him, but they need a guy who can contribute a bit, Emberson absolutely does not.
Again, I'm not taking about young player struggles, new team struggles, I'm talking about a guy who looks overwhelmed by the NHL.No it would be stupid. Emberson is a 24 year old Dman with 33 games of NHL experience, it was be stupid to waive him for the sake of signing another old guy. The Oilers need to develop cheap young talent. Emberson has ability, he just needs more reps. It would be lunacy to toss him to the waiver wire without a trial run.
The Oilers absolutely need to develop cheap depth, but that player has to be able to play, we can't just assume they will.
