GDT: Avs @ Winnipeg | 5 PM MT | Blackwood Whiteout

Jets played last night and went to OT, and you'd swear the Avs were that team. 2nd time in last week they have played a team on 2nd half of B2B and the Avs look like the worse team.
Sure but the Avs were in a 3rd game in 4 nights situation as well...not sure that's any easier.

Overall I'm not too upset about the loss. The officiating was fine - sometimes it's really shitty but was fine tonight.

It was a well deserved loss. The few PPs that the Avs did get, they just completely overpassed passing up the opportunity to get the puck to the net and look for a greasy rebound or get in front of Hell-of-a-buick to screen him. Sometimes, you gotta pay the price but they didn't want to do that tonight.

I don't understand how this coaching staff makes decisions. "But Jared, deHaan isn't a Top-4 guy!"...

Jared - "I don't believe you - show me." Seriously dude, you couldn't figure it out before you decided to play him as a #4 for the first two periods tonight???

At this point, deHaan is a #7. He's not even a good enough #6...he can fill-in short-term as a #6...certainly not any higher than that. Honestly, I have no idea how he's played this season but I miss JMFJ after watching deHaan this season.

I don't get the call-up of Felhaber. He's small, not a particularly strong forechecker, he doesn't really hit...he's just a frikkin' guy out there. Surely a guy like Puljujarvi could give you more than this frikkin' guy, no??

I don't think we can play de Hann anymore. He's not built for this system. We need to get rid of him. Just a bad fit.

One thing I have noticed is that MacKinnon seems to be going out of his way to collect assists this season. I think he heard about all the praise mcdavid got for his 100 assists last season and he wants to do it as well.

Only problem is, Mack scored 51 goals last year and is only on pace for about 28. We can't have that - especially with the injuries, he's gotta be a guy that scores 40+ goals...this f***ing overpassing (like with the completely empty net against Chicago) is costing us points in the standings.

Yeah 29 needs to get his shit together. He's overpassed the shit out of the puck this year. Shoot the f***ing puck no one gives a shit about your assist total.

Agreed. His fake one timer only to dust it off and make a seam pass over 3 sticks only to get it picked off is so frustrating.

At least twice tonight he had Helleybuck out of position for a one timer and he pulled out of it. f***ing shoot it.

Enough of this horseshit. The Avs are currently 16th in the league on the PP. Completely and totally UNACCEPTABLE.

I don't care if the players are executing or not (they are not but the scheme has been STALE for years) Ray Bennett's time has run its course. Get rid of him...figure out who is the BEST PP guy in the AHL/CHL and let's f***ing go.

bLose fans were so relieved when they finally got rid of him and now we are that way too. At least TWO YEARS overdue.

I've said it before but until this team starts giving a shit every night this is the crap we will continue to see. Half assed BS where they get worked, with the occasional game where they give a f*** and dominate.

If I was as bad at my job as Bennett is at his, I'd get sued.

Watching the Eagles and they scored 3 PP goals in the 2nd and they were quite clinical. MacDonald with 2 one-timer G and a primary assist on those. Against the best team in the AHL.

My only observation is that it is very clear this team doesn’t care about the regular season at all and just want to get in with a wildcard spot.

We stink on home ice anyways so who gives a shit, it has never benefited us in the playoffs.

Get the 7th/8th spot and be healthy going into the playoffs. Nothing else seems to matter.

Avs dominated the play for the better part of the first and second periods. Got deflated after that 2nd goal and didn't show up for the third.

They win this game with Nuke and Girard in and De Haan and Felhaber out. And if they are able to stay healthy and get Wood and Landeskog back with Blackwood in net, this team is going to be stacked.

The message has not reached Bednar and he still runs the top guys in the ground.

My two cents. Remains the same since the summer. This is a very average team. And getting into the playoffs as a lower seed and an upset win in the first round should be considered a success.

They are not a contender.

Against the top teams like Winnipeg the Avs aren't going to be regularly competitive.

Winnipeg played the perfect defensive game tonight against the Avs.

Of course they've been doing it to the Avsthe majority of season games the past few years.

Say what ya want, I don't see them getting 1st rounded this year.

Maybe the ice was bad

It's so frustrating watching this team going at 80%. They can't wait till the playoffs start to pull the switch.

It's not like Winnipeg dominated either. They got a couple chances and buried them. The Avs got their chances too but didn't execute. Always frustrating. Gotta give the Jets credit for keeping their defensive structure tight and winning puck battles. Not much room there in their zone.

Yeah agreed. I think Jets gaining the lead also let them slow down the game and focus on defense. Of course they do deserve credit for execution and it's probably not their first time this season. In the same amount of games, the Jets have let in 108 goals and the Avs have let in 138. In scoring both teams are near the top of the league (156-147). If we look at just the Blackwood era, we've scored 40 goals and let in 26, while Jets have scored 39 and let in 27. We are pretty evenly matched with them right now.

The Avs didn't play as bad as some suggest. It was a high speed and intensity game and both teams were up to the task in that regard. For the Avs it felt the shots were either wide or blocked for the most part and for me that was the most frustrating thing about the game, not their effort or compete level.
