I know the shots are 12-5 but I thought they played a good first period.

Very few if any of those 12 shots were grade A scoring chances.

On the other hand the Leafs had at least 2 in those 5 shots.

McCabe had one, and Nylander with that partial breakaway

Colorado had puck possession and took shot but overal didn't generate a lot of offensive... They're best chance was coming from lucky bounce...
