Confirmed with Link: Avs trade de Haan, Parsinnen, a 2nd and a 4th to NYR for Lindgren (50% retained), Vesey, prospect Hank Kempf

A steep price for Lindgren? Are you kidding? A slow, becoming slower, turnover machine in de Haan who can't clear the puck and has very little speed and a weakling, 4th liner at best in Parssy who gets bulldozed in the corners and blasted out in front of the net. I can't believe an idiot like Fortunato who said the Rangers might have gotten the best defenseman in the deal. Oh yeah, conditional 2nd and 4th round picks. What's the hit rate on those? Absolute F'ing absurd.

Ranger fans - - let us know ten games in how you like de Haan as he moves like a turtle in your own zone while giving up the puck like Halloween candy. And when Parssinen plays, see how quickly a 6'3" player can make himself invisible on the ice.
I know it’s only 1 game so far (not 10) but I was there last night and isolated on Jusso on every shift. Really impressive - all over the ice forechecking, backchecking, net-front scrums, couple of blocks. Credited with team-high 6 hits.

Know who else had 6 hits? DeHaan. Who also had an assist and zero give-aways per official scorer.

Maybe it was freakish “new guy, new scenery” syndrome for both. We’ll see tonite if they both drop off against a slightly better opponent.

What position did Jusso play and on what line?

You will like Parssinen.

You are going to detest De Haan with every fiber in your body. He is quite possibly the worst defenseman in the NHL. I have zero doubt about that.

Pärssinen looked good here too. It just makes zero sense for the Avs to trade him when he looked better than our 2C at one seventh of the cap hit.

I think others have already said most of what I wanted to in response to this, but I'll add on a few things.

It's honestly pretty funny that you argue that it's not negativity but rather objectivity, but then describe the Avs not getting Seth Jones as a "whiff". As has been pointed out, we don't have a Spencer Knight equivalent to offer, and we don't even know for sure if Jones wanted to come here.

With regards to Manson, are you not aware that an injury can affect your decision-making? Overall though I'm just going to have to disagree, because when he is playing well, he brings something this team desperately needs. Big guys who can skate, move the puck, and play physical are very rare - it's insane how much he is undervalued here by some people.

Also, okay, I'll give you Parssinen's minutes were low, but who exactly was he outplaying to earn more minutes? And why is scratching him evidence of his low favor rather than because he was going to be traded? Could it just be that Bednar likes Drury and Kelly better as bottom six centers, and Parssinen doesn't really work as a winger? I just don't get why people assume when a guy doesn't fit, it's because Bednar hates him.

Yeah it's a steep price for Lindgren, but you never know if a new player is going to work out, and every acquisition is a risk. Yes, he might get injured, but who is the non-injury-prone player available we could have acquired instead who isn't named Seth Jones?

Also, one last example of something totally objective, not negative at all (emphasis added):

Wasted year? Really? Mitts is so bad he's going to single-handedly cost us our chance at the cup? And even though there's no one better available, we should just make a change because somehow replacing him with a worse player will solve the problem?
If you want to play semantics, I think it's more critical than objective.

I'll say again that we had a package Chicago was interested in if we were there until the wire. Maybe Knight was added right at the end, who knows. Hard to believe we weren't 2nd place and could have sweetened the pot.

Either way, I don't think there's anything wrong with a fanbase being critical of its management/coaching. Doesn't mean we are always right but there's enough reasons for questioning with the team as it stands. They have to earn my optimism, not the other way around.

Didn't Jones want nothing to do with the Avs?

Exactly. League is being watered down.
Yes, the league will get watered down at first.

But the theory behind expansion is that by moving into a new territory, you can develop new fans. More importantly, new younger fans who ask mom and dad to let them play. From that point on, as long as the community is affluent and committed enough you can start to develop hockey players where you never would have thought possible before.

Who had a Captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs being born in San Ramon, CA and raised in the desert of Arizona on their bingo card in 1995?

[edit... as a completely stupid aside, I forgot the actual year the Jets moved to Pheonix and had to look it up. Typing the phrase "When did Utah move from Canada to Phoenix?" was one of the most bizarre things I think I have ever done in my life.]

lol. so true. :ha:
Two way street. CMac should be fired for not firing Bednar.

CMac said he brought Juuso in to play 3C. Bednar played him a second line winger for one game and then just punted him to the dog-house.

So CMac goes out and spends more assets and brings in Drury and says, he's the 3C Bednar needs. Bednar promptly plays Jack on the 4th line for multiple games.

I've never seen a worker so disrespectful of their boss not get canned. Jared Bednar literally is Peter Gibbons in Office Space. No f***s given, and even when questioned he's completely serious, "It's just not worth putting money or effort into a practice facility, because we just simply don't believe in practice. You have to understand, the league has us pinned up against a wall with flight times, the fact that taxes are different in some places, combined with the fact that there are only ugly female massage thereapists in Denver and honestly, if the league doesn't give us 20M more in cap space because the Colorado River sucks, there just isn't any reason to put forth an effort Bob..."

And this is why I don't come here often. It's exhausting to be around people who are constantly negative about everything the team does and see everything from a negative lens. It's not "Mitts has been playing poorly" it's "Mitts is terrible and is going to cost us the cup, so cMac MUST make a move to fix things!". It's not "The Avs clearly weren't willing to pay the price it took to get Jones. I wish they had", it's "They completely whiffed on Jones."

The negativity builds up the point where things contrary to reality start to become common knowledge around here. Before the Avs traded Georgiev, I could swear it was common sense around here to assume CMac is a terrible GM who loves Georgiev and never does anything.

I get fans are irrational by nature, but it would be nice for that rationality to go in the Sea Eagles direction a little more often or at least find some balance.

You must of really enjoyed CMac's latest presser lol.

Don't let the negative nancies get you down. Some folks on here just want to bitch and moan and call it being objective/critical. I say let them. It gets pretty obvious when someone is determined to have a bad time here

Agree to disagree. Being critical isn't necessarily being negative. It's actually coming from a place of wanting to see this team succeed.

I.E. I like Lindgren as a target. I'm not thrilled with the price we paid.

Mittlestadt needs to play better for us to have a shot. That's just a fact. He's been objectively terrible for a large stretch of the year.

I agree many here could take a more even keel approach, but it's coming from a place of passion.

I don't even like the Avs. They're just the team I hate the least.

I watched part of the game. The Islanders were horrible. I mean, they were just going through the motions. It looked like very little effort there. Nothing against Parssinen but he looks nice skating around the ice but watch how easily he gets manhandled in the corners and moved out from in front of the crease. He's got some skills but he just didn't show anything in Colorado.

de Haan? Geez, just wait. The Islanders put zero pressure on the Rangers last night as they skated freely out of their "D" Zone through Neutral Ice. A heavy forechecking team will cause a lot of problems for de Haan. That's when the turnovers will happen and he slows down after absorbing hits. Hey, I like the Rangers and folks in Colorado will always have a good feeling about GM Drury.

Sample of one again, and yes the Isles blow, but deHaan led all D with 70%+ possession, xGF, scoring chances, and high dangers.

Wednesday against Caps will be a big test.
