Folks can talk all they want about whether or not Lindgren is what we need... but let's not ever say this wasn't a lot of deck chairs moving for what most people think is a f***ing wash if not straight downgrade.

Seems like a lot of shit was moved for asbolutely no difference. Hope to see this differently after watching Lindgren play for us instead of NYR, but this seems like an absolute abysmal failure. Almost like the GM allowed his coach to make a trade.
It's obviously not a downgrade because De Haan is quite possibly the worst player in the NHL, but the upgrade is marginal.

Disagree. We were clearly talking for months and there until the final hour, hence the timing of the Lindgren deal. We clearly had an offer they were strongly considering. All I'm arguing is that if you're going to overpay slightly for Lindgren, just overpay for Jones instead.
Ya, until Florida added Knight. As soon as he was added, I'm confident that the Avs knew they couldn't match and moved on to Lindgren

Avs didnt have the pieces for that deal, did they? You need to make the team better with the deal and not worse.

Maybe Bedards wanted a goalie and Avs didnt have one to give. Case closed..

And havent read through the last 10 pages to see if there was a deal in place like you suggested...
I just think it was obvious. Scouting for months, trade for Lindgren happens immediately once they found out Florida was getting him

Maybe having Lindgren on the team will cause Mitts to perk up.

If this means we are keeping Mitts then it makes the trade even worse.

Joking aside, I was really thinking we were gonna ship out that 2nd rd pick along with Mitts somewhere for an upgrade. Now I’m truly wondering if we are keeping him or what we are shipping out in a package with him. One of the dmen get shipped out now? (+Mitts)

Who are you targeting as this upgrade?

The Avs clearly wanted a playoff style warrior for the bottom pairing. Valimaki isn't that.

And let's not forget that 30 other GM's also passed on Valimaki. When good players pass through waivers unclaimed there's often something going on behind the scenes that fans aren't privy to.
When good players pass through waivers there's probably some issue behind the scenes.

Valimaki has no issues behind the scenes. The issues are on the ice. He's bad.

I think you have to look beyond the advanced stat cards.

One player is 33 at the tail-end of his career. The other is 27 and is playing more minutes in an elevated role.

Lindgren plays a more playoff style game than CDH. We’ll see how Lindgren looks in an Avs uniform, but management obviously sees hope for a turnaround. There was no such hope with CDH.

6 hits huh? He averaged 1.3 per game this year on the Avs according to NHL.com.

Sure. He did what it took to stay in the lineup here and followed Bednar's instructions.

Forward or defense, if you go out of your way to finish checks instead of poking with your stick and immediately transitioning the play up-ice, Bednar hates you.

We will be look beyond them over the rest of the season.

I hope like hell I'm wrong. Because we actually spent assets that were worthwhile here. And blowing all that for a guy that Dom says is worth 100K less than the guy we gave up will need some games viewed. I've lost a lot of faith in our pro-scouts ability to identify players who can help Jared Bednar.

I tend to think of things right now as the scouts working for CMac trying to identify what he wants and then when they get that Bednar wants nothing to do with.

From an OG perspective nothing drives me more crazy than this when they puck is around the crease and I see 3 Avs playing statues trying to poke at a puck instead of bodying guys.
