Avs trade Annunen and 2025 6th for Scott Wedgewood (NSH)

Never say never.

He can compete for that #1 spot all year.
Just don't have him do it with George. Get the other upgrade asap. Then we good to roll with a tandem.

Its even super easy to acquire a better goalie. The problem is dumping Georgiev, who the hell would even want the guy. Getting a cheap backup from some team and sending 4giev to the AHL should be a legit option.

Not many can do worse than Georgiev and his impressive .867 SV% + 3.54 GAA.

No one will bat an eye if he goes on LTIR. He's mentally broke and everyone knows it. I said it earlier tonight, but it's borderline abuse continuing to send him out there in games.

Any team who would like to draft 1st should jump all over Georgiev. Sharks are doing too good right now. Blackwood two solid games in a row.

This is pure speculation but seems like a great locker room guy. After getting the big hat last night you can tell he was comfortable with the moment. Just another good ol Canadian boy as some would say.

I think he can be a legit backup, as seen in Dallas, but at no point should he be considered to be the starter.

He's not the one that needs to replace Georgiev. He's the Annunen replacement.

I agree with this.

Never. :sarcasm:

Not that I don't think he can be a good goalie to be counted on at times - and even when the starter is injured for 2-3 weeks but I don't think he's a starter. I see him kinda like Francouz.

The problem with him 'competing' for that #1 spot is that if it goes sideways and he fails miserably then you may not even have a solid back-up anymore.

I think george's latest 'performance' is going to force the Avs to get this done quicker than they would have liked and probably pay more than they would have liked but they really have to get it done.

I think Wedge gets the next start but this is done before the weekend.

When they get home, there needs to be a plaque or banner in the lockeroom that reads "Four lines, six D, two tendies, all year long!"

That was one of the coolest moments inside a locker-room I've seen. How many of these guys had he even had a chance to speak with before?
I think he's going to be a great backup for us. A guy who can give us decent to good goaltending and go on little heaters here and there. Not a guy who can be a full time starter but someone who will be a glue guy in the locker room and help out Georgie or whoever the new starting goalie will be eventually.

Basically another Frankie

I still like this addition. I would've liked to have gotten more for Annunen, but it is what it is. Wedgewood is a more than serviceable backup, but the elephant in the room remains. Georgiev has go to go.
Good grief, we've been dealing with Nuke for so long, I read your first line as "I still like this addiction"...
