Avs trade Annunen and 2025 6th for Scott Wedgewood (NSH)

I agree with this.

Never. :sarcasm:

Not that I don't think he can be a good goalie to be counted on at times - and even when the starter is injured for 2-3 weeks but I don't think he's a starter. I see him kinda like Francouz.

The problem with him 'competing' for that #1 spot is that if it goes sideways and he fails miserably then you may not even have a solid back-up anymore.

I think george's latest 'performance' is going to force the Avs to get this done quicker than they would have liked and probably pay more than they would have liked but they really have to get it done.

I think Wedge gets the next start but this is done before the weekend.
I was off by a few days....

Do you know if this would be available to listen to after?

I have my tissue box ready.

Eventually it should be updated on here. I think it was in hour two IIRC.

Anyone else think Bednar praising Georgiev is an attempt to not tank his value even worse?
In the radio piece I wouldn't say Bednar wasn't terribly complimentary towards him, at least in how Bednar is. Brought up Georgies lack of game management and inconsistency quite a bit.

Annunen so far with the Preds, only two games though.

1.52 GAA .954 SV%

Dude had a very short leash here for whatever reason.

Annunen will become a top 10 starter on this league and our team will still be scratching the garbage bin to find some magical long term solution for our goaltending.

lets be honest, Varly was the last decent goalie we have seen in the Avs. and I dont think this will change soon unless Nabokov decides to come and proves to be NHL quality.

Probably because in the 29 games he had here, he did not have a 1.52 GAA with a .954 SV%.

And the reason is… Bednar the one trick pony
Yeah the guy sitting on the bench is the reason he couldn't catch a beachball.

Wanna take a bet? I bet he won't keep his 1.52 GAA and .954 SV% by the time he's up to 29 games in Nashville.
Offcourse not. But I can tell you that in couple of years you guys are going to be pissed because of this trade. For Annunen this is was a great trade, Nashville is a dumpster Firefox at the moment so theres not a lot of pressure and he can develop with the help of a finnish star goalie.

We'll see then. All prospects have a chance of breaking out, most of them won't. He got traded because of how badly he played. Not sure what there is in his play that makes you so confident that we'll miss him. I wish him luck though, I'm only going to be happy for any traded prospect that manages to have a great career.

Annunen may very well go on to have a stellar career and better than Wedgewood.

The Avs couldn’t sit around and wait for that to happen. The facts are Annunen was one of the worst goalies in the NHL this year in every statistical category. He was cooked.

The Avalanche are only concerned with the here and now, one which has Wedgewood performing well and helping settle down the goaltending position.
