Much like Gibson, the team around him plays a big factor on how bad his numbers have been. Hard to be a really good goalie on a shit team.Mental issues. Campbell, Georgiev, Elvis and plenty of others

It's pretty easy to just spout out numbers like that without context but the truth of the matter is that Annunen is the one that got us back to .500 when George was playing like an ECHL turd and the first chance that Bednar got to bury Annunen after he had a bad start, he threw him under the bus through the media.
I believe that was at the start of November... and then the rest of his appearances after that were no good and no one can dispute that but Jared never threw George the way he did Annunen.
I don't think Annunen is very good BUT I do think Bednar's leash with him was absurdly short. To the point of it being insane how much he prefers Georgiev.I gave plenty of context. Annunen getting Colorado back to .500 earlier this year isn't shining up an .872 SV%.
I think Cmac and the team has accepted the faith, that we rise and die with George and Nuke. It's Mission Impossible but we wish for the best and it's probably the best approach we have with the limited cap we have.

Annunen had 4 starts above .920, 3 starts between .850-.875, and 2 starts where he was god awful and got pulled.
Georgiev has had 4 starts above .920, 5 starts between .850-.875, and 5 starts where he has been below .85p to downright horrible in the .600s.
One guy got absolutely torn to shreds by his head coach in games following poor play, even after wins like against Ottawa.
The other guy has consistently heard from his coach post game that "Georgie is our guy" and "I like how Georgie battled."
It's a clear double standard that Jared has and I just don't get it. Georgiev isn't some franchise goalie who needs that level of coddling.
The double standards were kinda ridiculous. Georgiev cannot do nearly anything wrong for Bednar no matter how awful he plays. At least call a spade a spade.Annunen did fine for a while. Bednar clearly disliked him, he could do no good according to him.
I've seen posts like this throughout the thread and I just find them weird.I think Cmac and the team has accepted the faith, that we rise and die with George and Nuke. It's Mission Impossible but we wish for the best and it's probably the best approach we have with the limited cap we have.
That's how it feels like.
My opinion:
We will never win the Stanley Cup as long as George plays any significant role. Nuke is a player we probably just have to gamble with, because he is very tough to replace, we like him or not. Georges level shouldn't be hard to replace or improve.

It's not like the TDL has come and gone and now we're heading down the stretch with theses players.
I posted last week that both goalies should be moved out - but just because the backup is moved before the starter, it doesn't mean George is here to stay.
If MacKinnon continues to play like his pre-Duchene trade days, it's going to force CMac hands one way or another on nuke.
I'm reminded of the phrase "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". Seems to me that the Avs are the exact opposite of that.I've seen posts like this throughout the thread and I just find them weird.

When have you heard about something the Avs are going to do? Mainstream media clearly doesn't know and are always throwing darts trying to figure out what they are going to do.We haven't really heard anything else which would point out them trying to trade away these two.

Ok fine you win. I certainly don't have the time to dissect this thing to THAT degree.Bednar's harshest comment against Annunen that I'm aware of was the Capitals game:
In the Tampa Bay bloodbath:
- "They weren't good enough. For sure Justus. First shot, point shot, no screen. Second one, no good. Third one, didn't like that one either."
He was then asked point blank about Annunen's poor numbers versus tough competition:
- "Didn't love the start from Juice, go to Georgie because we had a little jump. Thought the game was still in reach and it wasn't, so went back to Juice to give Georgie some rest."
I listened to the post-game presser against Ottawa and I didn't hear Bednar mention his name. If I missed it, feel free to provide the quote.
- "I mean I'd have to have his numbers in front of me versus specific opponents to talk on that though".
The Capitals game comments were blunt, for sure. You're saying Bednar tore Annunen to absolute shreds, someone else said Bednar buried him. I'd say that's an exaggeration. It's also exaggerated that Bednar never criticizes Georgiev. Going all the way back to opening night, Bednar didn't exactly have glowing comments about Georgiev's performance:
Relistening to these various post-game pressers hasn't shown me that Bednar has an irrational bias towards Georgiev/against Annunen, but instead how much more frustrated in general he's been this season.
- "Every mistake we made tonight ended up in the back of our net. Literally almost everyone. It's not good enough."
I’d love to believe this as well, but until it happens, we have no idea what the Avs will do with AG for the remainder of this year. The Avs starting goalie for the 2025 SCPs is not on the roster at the moment. No sense trying to make heads or tails out of Bednar or management's public statements about AG or JA. They ain't thrilled with either . AG has a longer leash because he's been better, for longer and actually played well during the playoffs last year.
I don't recall anybody clamoring to trade Georgiev during the summer. But like a relief pitcher who suddenly can't throw strikes, GA needs to move on. But nobody is going to give us a good goalie for nothing. At least not now.
Ok fine you win. I certainly don't have the time to dissect this thing to THAT degree.
For me, following the Avs closely but not "I'm going to make sure I don't miss 1 quote or a minute of ANY Avs content ever" (cuz I have kids and a job and just not even close to that kind of time) - it just always seemed TO ME to be that :
When George had a bad game - Bednar 'we have to be better in front of him' and when Justus had a bad game it was just him that was bad.
It wasn't so much that Bednar completely tore Annunen to shreds because he didn't but he certainly didn't give him the whole "the team has to be better in front of him" courtesy that Georgiev kept getting and keeps getting when he's god f***ing awful.
If you want to keep missing that point, go right ahead.
I don't know where you were, but majority of this board wanted Georgiev gone even post-playoffs.I don't recall anybody clamoring to trade Georgiev during the summer.
