You're ignoring the fact that getting Georgiev out of that locker room would be addition by subtraction in and of itself. This team is terrified to play to their identity because it relies on their goaltender to make a routine save. Instead they have to sell out on every single f***ing shot against because they can't trust him to not give up a brutal rebound, if not just let in the goal.

I'm fine with admitting that Hughes won the Norris last year and deserved to win it. As we all saw during last season - even though Cale had a good season production-wise, he just wasn't as dynamic and seemed 'off' or maybe even fighting a lingering injury. He seemed more reluctant to carry the puck up the ice and make things happen as we are seeing him do this year and how he had been doing it in years prior.

This season though, I don't feel it's particularly close for anyone who really watches the games. Makar's defensive numbers are affected by the fact that we have the worst goaltending in the league by a country mile... so if you're going to buy-in to the fancy stats that don't take everything in context, then sure you can start to believe that Makar sucks defensively and is sacrificing defense in-order to put up crazy numbers as some nucks turds suggested. Anyone who watches the Avs knows that is false.
