Forward Inks One-Year Entry-Level Contract

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed forward Taylor Makar to a one-year, entry-level contract through the 2025-26 season. Makar will report to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Yes. He turned 24 in March. ELC lengths:

• 18-21 years of age: 3 years
• 22-23 years of age: 2 years
• 24 years of age: 1 year

He has the speed and size. Getting a shot at NHL will depend on how well he can defend as he will certainly (almost?) be maxed out at a 4th line spot. He will need to able to produce a bit too in other to stick even in a 4th line spot. However having a last name like Makar will not change Bednar's rule that a bottom-6 player has to play good defense to remain in the line up.

Extremely limited, based on a couple interviews, but it sounds like they pushed him hard to embrace a heavier power forward game, and it's brought success.
