I don't know what level he can get to, but I've always thought he has NHL potential too.
He's got the size and the skating. If he doesn't handle the puck like a grenade in the NHL, he'll be just as good as lot of other guys the Avs have tried before. Vessey for example I haven't seen much out of so far.
Plus he seems to have a competitive nature like Cale and a drive to get better and prove himself. That bodes well for his NHL chances.
Best things for him to focus on are probably his puck skills, shot, and learning Bednar's puck hounding system on the forecheck, so he's ready to play the way he wants. As well as committing to backchecking hard and limiting penalties. Too many penalties is how you fall out of grace with Bednar.
If he can be a better version of Wood or Greer, that would be great for the Avs. They struggle finding role players in the draft. If he can be a better goal scoring power forward, he'll be a great success story.
