Once he got to Montreal he was asked to play 1C (the team had none) then he got moved to Domi's wing (not a real 1C) and that's where he was best. Domi got traded, Drouin got injured (missed many months) then came back and by the time Suzuki became 1C material Drouin had all kinds of issues and didn't really play with him.

I wanted the Avs to bring him onboard as a PTO in order to keep his AAV very low. At 825K I really can't complain. I think it is a great gamble. When he signed with the Habs he was brought in to be THE guy. He is far from that here. He is brought in as a complimentary winger.

Mack and Drouin were drafted the same year. The former went 1OA, the other 3OA. One is now making 12.6M, the other 825K. What a difference!

17 5 9 14 his second year, barely played in the regular season if I remember right.

This is why he is getting this shot IMO, also why I have some faith in him when it gets rough, and he's motivated. I've seen him reverse check too when pissed off.
