Terry Frei reporting that Coach Bednar speaks of Gabriel as if he's made main roster. He's not on waivers for assignment to the AHL but rather just because he has a 2 way contract.

I don't think thats true. In all likelyhood, it's so they don't have to do waivers on him in a few weeks when the team gets healthy.

But by doing it now, he has 30 days to put him down. If he waits til everyone is healthy and he does well, he could be picked up on Waivers when hes by himself on it.

Rene, such a frustrating player to watch. He'd have stretches where he looked like a premier power forward with the physical tools and skating, but just as often he'd fade into the margins and play on the perimeter.

Yep.

$1million body. $0.10 head.

Bourque. Bourque.

That's the first thing that came to my mind too. Just put them on a line with line with Landeskog!

Rene earned his spot in the preseason.

He may have a history of being a lazy disinterested player but that didn't show in the preseason. Was it because he was on a PTO and trying to earn a paycheck? Perhaps, but with Bednar he'll have made it clear that if you're not putting in the effort you wont be playing. So Rene will have to continue showing what he showed if he wants to keep playing.

The added depth in Gabriel is never a bad thing for a team.

Perhaps??? I don't think there's any doubt about it.

For whatever reason, the Avs have wanted this guy for a long time. When they traded PAP 2 years ago, R. Bourque was rumored to be going the other way until they ultimately decided for the shorter termed Briere instead. It's the same with Wierciorch...we've heard the past 2 years the Avs were interested and then they finally get him on board on July 1st.

Not expecting very much from either but like you said, they'll be buried in the AHL if they don't perform.

Gabby is a player that you'll love to root for. All motor.

Tons of speed, and even a little bit of skill, but absolute hands of stone. That said, great bottom sixer\PK player.

Yeah glad to see he is getting a shot somewhere. Hopefully he is ok and can get going. That dude has a motor that is one speed, wide open.
