I don’t know about that, but he seems like already plays hard and Bednar seems to get the most out of people like that. He seems to have greasy skills. JTC with better finish as the floor, no idea what the ceiling is but I can’t believe it’ll be a Nukish improvement.
Don't think he will be as good as Nuke defensively, but I can see him put up 25 goals 25 assists with the Avs, specially if he gets PP time on the 2nd unit. He had 19 goals and 24 assists last year, so 6 more goals and 1 more assist. Could happen

If he’s brought in to be 3C or a winger that’s fine, great depth that should fit in just fine. But if he’s thought of for the 2C spot than that’s a major problem.
2c or 3c he will be given a shot there, many players will. The Avs are one of the most injured teams in the league every year and I don’t think it’s going to change.

ERod at 2M is so much better than not having Erod. Signing is a pure win for the Avs. He isn’t the savior. He isn’t a Kadri replacement. But he’s a HIGH end 3rd liner who can fill in on the 2nd line almost permanently. If we add a high end forward piece at the deadline for the top 6 and Erod is a full time third liner in the playoffs for it means we have some ridiculous depth. Cup winning depth.

I bet Sakic sees a little bit of himself in Evan. Maybe even marvels at the 19 goals and fantasize about him as a budget winger for MacKinnon.

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rodriguez
Lehkonen - Myers - Rantanen
Compher - Newhook - Nichushkin
Cog - Helm - Con

Have you spent a week on this board?
Today is my first day here.

Seems awfully generous to be calling him a HIGH end 3rd liner when he has done that for one season... really one half of a season if you look back at last season.

Finally! There's my 1 year team friendly deal. Pays to be the Cup Champs. Erod bets on himself and puts up a big year to get paid next year.

Two Rivers
Ya he probably would have. And we’d have banked cap space and could make a trade later in the season.

New hook atleast has a 5% chance at being a 2C. ERod is 29. He’s a great pickup on a 1 year deal for cheap but he’s not a legitimate option as a 2C IMO. Obviously hope to be wrong.

I agree ERod isn't a 2C, but he's a hell of a lot better of an option than Compher or 22 year old Newhook. But that 2 million means if they pick up a real 2C at the deadline money has to go out now.

I like this signing a lot and have been hoping the Avalanche would land Rodrigues this off-season.

I have no idea if E-Rod will score 19 goals again, but it's reasonable to assume he'll chip in 30+ points and be a solid two-way player. One thing that I like is that Rodrigues shot the heck out of the puck last year with 243 SOG; more than Compher and Newhook combined (215) last year.

May I ask how this is reasonable?

Over his last 5 nhl seasons, he’s either paced or produced for 30+ points in 4 of them.

Will he do it again? No idea, but it’s reasonable.
Pacing =/= getting. He's scored 30+ once in his whole career so far, and it it came with rolling on a heater in the first 30 games. The last half of the season, he paced in the 20s.

God that's ugly ass center depth lol. I expect at the deadline for us to make a move for a more legit #2C but still. Oh well, who needs C's when you have D's.

One might have thought that before tying up this 2 million.

Not a fan of the move, much rather would have preferred the cap space so we have more flexibility at the TDL. We don't really know what ingredient we'll be missing at that time.

That being said, I hope Rodrigues proves me wrong.

Rodrigues has scored or paced for around 30 points in each of the last 5 seasons. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume he may score 30 points this upcoming season.

You are critical of using pacing to examine the seasons Rodrigues did not reach 30 points due to games played, yet you are comfortable using pacing to scrutinize the season in which he scored 40.

This doesn't prevent us to get anyone at the deadline. Like I said, 0 asset spent and we can move people at the deadline too if we need more cap space. Even EJ as a pending UFA is easy to move to a team that isn't on his NMC.

Our depth took a big hit this summer and this is a great signing.
