With the Blackwood signing the Avs now have $72.145m committed for 2025/26 to 9 forwards, 4 defensemen, and 2 goalies.

The cap is projected to rise to at least $92.4m, so that leaves $20.255m for two first line forwards, two 4th line/depth forwards, and three no.5-7 Dmen. Rantanen will eat about $12-13m of that, leaving $7-8m for the rest.

Rantanen UFA
Drouin UFA
Landeskog $7m
Kiviranta UFA

Malinski RFA
DeHaan UFA
Ludvig UFA
Kylington UFA

1 LW ---------------- Mackinnon ($12.6m) -- 1RW
Lehkonen ($4.5m) --- Mittelstadt ($5.75m) -- Nichushkin ($6.125m)
Wood ($2.5m) -------- Colton ($4m) -------- O'Connor ($2.5m)
Ivan ($845k) ----------- Kelly ($825k) -------- 4RW
13FWD

Toews ($7.25m) -- Makar ($9m)
Girard ($5m) ----- Manson ($4.5m)
3LD --------------- 3RD
7D

Blackwood ($5.25m)
Wedgewood ($1.5m)

Yeah, Colton and Drouin's futures here are completely dependent on the Landeskog factor.

Manson is gone traded

Malinski is kept, and two pilons are found. One right handed, and the other left handed.

I expect Cal Ritchie to stick next year.

Lehkonen up to LW1. Colton either LW2 or 3C. Ritchie either RW2(Nuke to left) or 3C.
If you're right about Ritchie and Rantanen comes in at $12.5m, the Avs would have $85.57m spent (roughly $7-10m to spare) with only 5 depth spots to fill. Doesn't look like all that difficult of an offseason at all.

Lehkonen ($4.5m) ---- Mackinnon ($12.6m) -- Rantanen ($12.5m)
Ritchie ($925k)
------- Mittelstadt ($5.75m) -- Nichushkin ($6.125m)
Wood ($2.5m) -------- Colton ($4m) -------- O'Connor ($2.5m)
Ivan ($845k) ----------- Kelly ($825k) -------- 4RW
13FWD

Toews ($7.25m) -- Makar ($9m)
Girard ($5m) ----- Manson ($4.5m)
3LD --------------- 3RD
7D

5 years is a huge commitment. Suprised by that
That’s how you get the AAV down, and he’ll be 33/34 at the end which is young for the way some of these deals with guys getting paid until 37. It’s a risk since he’s a goalie but you have to be happy with the aggressiveness by the FO. Not f***ing around.

Landy can't come back, it's as simple as that. If he does they have to trade several players and replace them with shitty league minimum AHLers and there's no way it won't make the team significantly weaker.

If he doesn't come back they have to use the 7M to re-sign Drouin (4M) which will leave 3M to get a 4th liner and 2 dmen.

No money to keep a 13th fwd or a 7th D with the team. Gonna be fun to deal with injuries.
If he comes back that's a positive. You just jettison Wood and go cheap-ish on 4th line guys and load up at the deadline.

I like it and there's no way this deal can look absolutely trash, apart from nagging injuries leading to bad availability.

I think its a fine contract. CMac said he wasn't trading for Blackwood for just 4 months. Surprised they went 5 years, but the term is fine and aligns with what's left of our window.

Also just got done with the main board thread...
