Goalies are just inherently risky unless you're willing to shell out $8-10 mil.

I've liked what I've seen since we've acquired him, but I'm still a bit skeptical, as he played his best hockey in a high-shot-volume, low-pressure environment in San Jose and has never played in an NHL playoff game

That being said, I hope his play in San Jose was a sign of his maturation (goalies peak later after all), and he provides the goaltending we need to win

He was good early then struggled with injury issues for a couple years by his own account. He talked about finding his game on the other side of dealing with that. Stat sheet lines up with it.

But what about Ilya Nabokov? Man, f*** Ilya Nabokov. Right now he's not better than either goalies we have, and until he is, he can hang out in the AHL. Nobody should expect him to be handed anything because of where he was drafted, he needs to earn that shit

Kuemper was 32 at the time he signed his 5 x 5.25m deal. And has been trending down ever since.

Blackwood just turned 28 and is arguably just entering his prime years.
