The Avs are not going to trade Mikko. He will be an own rental even if they can't re-sign him. We are trying to win a cup here, and trading away the #2 player in league wide scoring isn't going to improve that chance.

The cap is projected to rise to at least $92.4m, so that leaves $20.255m for two first line forwards, two 4th line/depth forwards, and three no.5-7 Dmen. Rantanen will eat about $12-13m of that, leaving $7-8m for the rest.

Short sample size, but I‘be preferred him to Keumper and given the time that has passed it’s a better contract in terms of % of cap.

Have to imagine this means Nabokov is on the block.

This doesn't put Nabokov on the block at all, far from it.

The Avs have Blackwood and Wedgewood as a tandem next year, with Nabokov likely in the AHL, and then in 2026/27 Nabokov will (hopefully) get promoted to the backup role and eventually compete with Blackwood for the starter spot.

Landy can't come back, it's as simple as that. If he does they have to trade several players and replace them with shitty league minimum AHLers and there's no way it won't make the team significantly weaker.

If he doesn't come back they have to use the 7M to re-sign Drouin (4M) which will leave 3M to get a 4th liner and 2 dmen.

No money to keep a 13th fwd or a 7th D with the team. Gonna be fun to deal with injuries.

Just a 6 team NTC, that's good in case something does go south. Means that you might be able to get out of that contract, obviously it would still cost you assets but still.

Bob's contract isn't an anchor considering they won a cup and made it to the SCF the year prior. He had some rough years, but he stepped up when it mattered.
