Playoffs is still unliklely this year, just being realistic about it. Lots of things will have to fall in line for it to happen.

It would help tremendously if this team had the ability to string together wins like 5 or 6 in row, but I'm not sure if we have the scoring depth in order to do that. It's an unrealistic expectation when you have a dismal powerplay. We've only done 3 in a row once thus far.

maybe but we can't turn into the perfect team in one season.... I think we should take a step back and realize we have come a long way this year.. Yah veterans like luongo and mitchell have been huge... but these vets doing their jobs help our youth develop.
I am happy with this season if it stays as is. Of course we need to make playoffs

What is everyone hoping will happen next year that will automatically turn us into a 100+ point team?

I'd assume the usual:
1. Young guys developing into the scorers they were projected to be when drafed.
2. Replace UFAs as needed either via call ups or new veteran signings.

We also haven't had 3 losses in a row either.

What makes your statement realisitic? Check websites like http://www.sportsclubstats.com. We're just as likely to make the playoffs as we are to miss. This team is on pace for 98 points which historically has been enough to make the playoffs.

The website you use gives us a 30 percent chance to make the playoffs, which is probably about right since I don't see us finishing all that close to where we are on pace for.

Playoffs is still unliklely this year, just being realistic about it. Lots of things will have to fall in line for it to happen.

And reality says several things have already fallen in place.
1. Jimmy Hayes Emergence
2. Lightning in a bottle in Ekblad who has been better than expected.
3. Pirri and Trocheck winning a couple of games for the team.
4. Boston's slow start.
5. Jersey , Ottawa, and Philadelphia dropping.
6. Toronto in flux.
7. Bjugstad emerging.
8. Huberdeau's hot streak in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton
9. Winning in Vancouver
10. CBJ's slow start

What more does the team need or can ask for? The team is in control of their own playoff Destiny? Don't write them off, instead, let them write their own story. Enough with the over-achieving narrative.

Hey guys, care to guess your line-up?

You're in for 40 shots at least.
I think it will be the same as during the roadtrip:

Huberdeau-Barkov-Boyes
Jokinen-Bjugstad-Hayes
Bergenheim-Bolland-Fleischmann
Upshall-MacKenzie-Kopecky

Kulikov-Mitchell
Campbell-Ekblad
Olsen-Gudbranson

Luongo

If there's change(s) made by Gallant; probably Fleischmann replaced by Trocheck/Pirri or if Thornton is ready to go, Upshall bumped to Fleischmann's spot and Flash replaced by Thornton.

Doubt they would bench a guy with 5p in last 5 games.

How are they unlikely, when we have a half a season to go, and we have game in hands against a lot of teams above us? Ridiculous to think the playoffs are unlikely this season.

Stop playing the percentages. They rarely, if ever, come true in sports. The reality is we are playing great hockey backed by awesome starting goaltending and good defense with games against the Avs, Oilers, Blue Jackets, and Devils on deck, three points out of 8th. We are in damn good contention for a playoff spot.

Canadian visiting family n Boca...four of us coming to the game, absolutely stoked about it.

It's nice as a Leaf fan to be able to see some puck from a more objective view point without any sort of bias...so many young stars emerging on both clubs that Im excited about observing first hand.

My guess is a Panthers win. If Lou is on form, that is. COL has some deadly shooters, but may be a little defensively suspect. FLA may not lead the league in goals-for, but if they can weather the Av's offense I think a 4-3 victory isn't a stretch.

Regardless, it's gonna be a great night.

Any recommendations on some pre game grub?

What's your budget? lol

IIRC the Sawgrass mall has some decent fast food options.
