Avs
Darcy Kuemper

to

Oilers
1st 2022
Dylan Holloway

- Oilers get their goaler, which they battled with the Avs to acquire during the offseason.
- Avs get a similar package back that the Coyotes originally got for him.
- Avs then sign UFA Tuukka Rask from the Bruins to a one year contract between 3.5 to 5 million.
- Bruins don't have to worry about sending anybody down or have to deal with a goaler carousel.

Kuemper doesn’t have that kind of value.

Also, the Avs are not moving Kuemper immediately after trading for him. He’s the guy this season.

The Avs unfortunately overpaid for Kuemper this summer. And Holloway + 1st is worth a decent amount more than Timmins + 1st. Even just asking Holloway alone would likely get Sakic turned down.

Avs need to hold onto Kuemper. Even with their rough start this is still considered a playoff competing year, he’s needed and there no replacement on the roster.

He's expendable due to the progression of Savoie. If you rather keep Holloway, then by all means replace him with Carter instead.
Holloway is worth a lot more than Savoie. Savoie has developed really well at Denver but Holloway was a mid first whose stock has climbed since being drafted, he projects as a top 6 player whereas Savoie is a bit more of a mystery box.

Either way it’s moot point. The Avs need their goalie and the Oilers will hang onto their blue chip prospects.

If they were comfortable with it a few months ago I doubt much has changed in a few months with a 9-2 record and that’s with Smith being out since game 3.
Such a small sample size.

I’m not sure kuemper is worth less than a first and decent prospect. Timmins has upside but two season long injuries now, I’m not sure he reaches his ceiling anytime soon. Don’t see how it’s an overpay.

I would have preferred to hang onto to Timmins but you’re right in your assessment. I just thought it was an overpay compared to what goalies have historically gone for, not saying it was a bad trade.

I just don’t see anyway the Avs get the Oilers best prospect and a 1st when we paid less than that just a couple months ago and Kuemper has been decent but not outstanding since.

Definitely agree he shouldn’t return a teams best prospect AND first.

Your criticism of the Oilers goaltending is “Such a small sample size”?

You’re trying to get rid of the Avs starting goaltender we just acquired because of the same small sample size lmao
What are you talking about? They’ve had their goaler combo for the past three years or so? Where has that taken the Oilers? 9-2 is a small sample size in regards to thinking their goaler duo is not a problem. It is mate and I am giving the bloke who Kenny originally wanted for a similar package.

I don’t think we should trade him at all. It makes no sense.

Even with the bad start this is still one of the competitive years of the Avs playoff window. They need to continue going for the Cup this postseason and trading away Kuemper is not the way to do that

How is this a similar package? Holloway is a blu chip prospect who alone is worth a lot more than what Colorado gave up.
