Can't believe how butt-hurt Avs fans are over Ferraro. When did the fans here morph into Blues fans? Big fat WHO CARES about how he sees things.
I thought Byram coughed up the puck numerous times when he was about to get hit. Looks scared out there. That was the biggest issue I saw last night.
Would've been nice to see the 2nd or 3rd line pick up more slack when the 1st is struggling.
Colten or Gourde, who ya got? I like G

I'm not mad or anything, just calling it how I saw it.

We played bad, like really bad. We were so bad that I'm not sure we completed a pass in the 1st period.

We looked like a team that was over a long road trip and had our minds in preseason mode. Seattle was hyped for their home opener and trying their best to not start 0-4.

Not the end of the world, I'm honestly impressed that we can play that bad and still find a way to win. Thanks George.
It's the last game of a road trip, teams normally look bad for those games. The team won't be on their game 82 times a year. We're going to lose games and going to look bad some nights. It's just the way it is for a long season.

My biggest beef with Drouin and Johansen being 40-50 point guys here is that impacts MacKinnon and Rantanen's ability to hit 100 lol

They really do not look great so far
They both have a very long history of being garbage on their previous teams. Many people here just assumed that they'd instantly become good just by wearing the Avs jersey. Lesson learned, hopefully.

It's only a matter of time until Bednar puts together another one of his "doghouse" lines and we see Drouin-RyJo-Tatar playing ~10 minutes of even strength together.

Which would then make Miles Wood a defacto 2nd line player with Colton and Nuke. Yikes.

Then the 4th line will get 3rd line minutes because they actually know their role and perform it well.

Also, Devon Toews will still play 30 minutes a night for no real reason

Was 11+ minutes for Tatar and Drouin but seems like you were close. Avalanche won, 4-1, but is this a cause for concern?

As has been said, a lot of times players need weeks to get accustomed to Avs hockey. Happened with Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Saad, Donskoi, Lehkonen, Manson, NAK, Rodrigues.

Give it more than 3 games.

Could only watch period 2 and take in full game highlights. Not understanding the negativity. I did notice a significant bump to Nukes game though.

Sadly I'd rather have Compher. I can see why Nashville was so willing to dump him and retain. He's completely washed and doesn't give 2 shits.

Based on three games? Sounds like the same stuff they are saying about Timo Meier on the Devils board.

Can't help thinking there's more there.

Anything extra on top of the already annoying east coast bias on national broadcasts is going to rankle most of us. Also live threads are going to be like that, we need something to talk about and we're all high on cocaine. When I lived in LA and used to have to watch the Anaheim feed when we played them I would almost lose my mind listening to Brian Hayward.

I hope I am not wrong, but I feel like the Avs system and pace are not the easiest things to make happen quickly. There's a lot of new pieces and the main guys didn't play a lot together in the preseason. I'm definitely not worrying unless things still look wonky in November. It's a testament to the talent that we're 3-0 while not looking like a world-beater. What I am genuinely worried about is Ryjo during home games at altitude.

That was a nightmare performance until the third period. Kraken simply cannot score, but Georgiev was amazing yesterday and kept the momentum neutral until Avs woke up.

The line blender three games in the season is something lol. Bednar needs to chill, you practically change each line with new players and he's expecting 30 goals from some of these blokes already.

Byram has definitely been by far and away the worst play so far in the early season. Might have not bitten us today, but it might down the road if he continues to keep playing like that.

I’m not really all that worried about the new guys yet.

Tbh, Wood is really the only one I’ve liked consistently and that’s more for effort and finishing checks/winning battles than points.

It’s clearly taking some time for these guys to adjust to the system and get up to speed. You really have to give it like 20-25 games before making any kind of judgement.

But hey, if you can still win games while the new guys are acclimating, that tells you that your team is pretty strong.

RyJo sucks, I've never personally liked him as a player. Now after a major injury he looks worse than ever. The only thing he does well is faceoffs.

I'd easily take JTC over the current version of RyJo.

Scoring chances dead even at 20-20, high danger chances actually ended up being 9-5 Avs.

The Kraken did not dominate this game at all. It feels like that because they caused turnovers, stopped MacKinnon all night and threw everything at the net from every possible angle but this was a good win by the Avs.

F*** Eberle, f*** the Kraken and we're 3-0 baby.
This comment really stuck with me, I thought it was excellent and informative.

As I've mentally chewed on the game, it's like the Seattle system is so committed to disruption and defense, scoring is just not a priority. And the second they try to score, it all falls apart AND they can't generate high quality offense at a rate similar to other teams.

I think their system counters our balls to the wall approach really well, and I would like Bednar to coach the team towards a lower risk, patient approach in the future vs. Seattle, a lot like what we did in the first 10 minutes of the 3rd. Seattle just melts down when they aren't handed turnovers on a platter.

And shoot high glove side ffs.

They did. 10.34% Second highest was Boston at 9.68%.
Yeah, it makes sense why they're coming back down to earth, but honestly, they should've probably been up 3-1 halfway in the 2nd period. They had prime scoring chances and it wasn't like a lack of finishers, they just got "Blackwood'd" by Georgiev as we did in the Sharks game.

Strongly disagree. The Kraken had less high danger opportunities than we did all game. It was a mirage that they played better than the Avs and should have been up. All they did was fire from everywhere and hope it hits something or try to get traffic, but Avs defenders were tremendous at boxing out last night.

It was a mirage that for almost 40 minutes the avalanche gave up the puck on half their zone entries, constantly passed into skates or 5ft from the player and couldn't control pucks to clear or defend?

I saw what I saw. Maybe some of it is illusion/bias, but definitely not all of it.

The first 30 minutes was definitely not a great game by the Avalanche. Anyone who says otherwise is like some Sharks fans two nights ago.

I honestly have seen bright spots in most of the new guys games at some point. Drouin is the only one I'm not sure I see a future on the team for.

And to anyone complaining about the team so far... I'll take this start with the kinks getting worked out versus last years. I'm trying to personally keep in mind, 50% of this forward core is new to the team and system.
