This is a situation where I could see an interim type hire....bring Taylor up with the understanding that if it doesn't work he still has the Admirals job and bring Juice3 to Milwaukee with the understanding that if Taylor doesn't make it, it's his job next
Obviously no mistake free GM or coach in sports, there are no absolutes, but let's be honest here we are getting a completely different approach and functionality in hockey operations. Will McFarland be successful? No idea. He's got an extensive resume and, apparently, was sought after by other teams in the NHL (I have heard or read that the reason why he was elevated to GM was because he got a raise in title with Colorado--and Haslam did say that Colorado made keeping him competitive--so obviously they were not just going tell him to pound sand). It's enough for me---and having the keys to the kingdom does enable you to do it your way. If the team improves and forms an identity people whining about what Rob Blake and his tenure in LA will be less and less. Also, I think a general GM rule is when you DO make a roster mistake it's how fast can you correct it...and Barry had a lot of those...unfortunately Chris is going to have to do some roster jujitsu if he can with some of these immovable contracts
