I see what you're saying now lol. Yes. It's perfect actually

If it weren't for how tight things are I'd be sticking up for him more regarding trading him.

If only he was a modern day Calvert

That's LOC, but it would have been really nice for Calvert to hold up a few more years and be on that cup team.

I believe our contention window has always hinged on Landy and Nuke more than anyone else. If they can come back, with the improved goaltending we are getting, and the elite talent we still have, we can still make a deep run. Our team in 2022 was overpowered if anything. We don't need that team again. And I think we can cover for the rants loss if Necas lives up to his talent and we get Landy and Nuke back. The biggest concern for me is whether Mittelstadt can snap out of the funk, or be moved for a 2C. We won't win a cup 16-4 with this team, but we could still eek out with a bunch of 6 and 7 games series.

I respectfully disagree. The shock and awe will wear off, and hopefully the lack of Mikko will allow it to sink in that ALL of them need to pull more weight. I think they will, but it will be close. First round exit? Maybe. But if Val and Landy make it back, the dynamic and mental toughness changes a lot. I was expecting a loss with the emotional nature of it all (especially Mack). Need some practice and time together to gel. Makar is dinged as well. Wish they all would skip the tournament, but I doubt that happens. The goalkeeping getting fixed is done at least. I still have faith.
I agree they should sit out the tournament.

I missed the game. How did the two new guys play?

In my opinion there were some true positives from both give the very quick turn around time.

Necas very clearly has the skill to play on a first line. He made some smart passes and seemed to cycle well with MacK and Drouin. My biggest concern from the one game sample size is that he passed up a lot of very good scoring chances to pass the puck. Part of that likely comes from trying to overcompensate for playing with MacK. He also directly led to a goal against due to not knowing where to be in the D-zone. Can’t really fault him on that.

Drury made some really smart plays and I think will fit in with this team very well long term. He was aggressive on draws, but unfortunately didn’t win too many yesterday. My biggest concern with him was how many big hits he ate.
