Same thing was said about Drouin ,, look at where he plays now ,, on your first line !!We don't want Anderson no matter what. Even with retention for just future considerations.
You can save yourself some time by dropping it. We do not want the player.
It's gonna end up being Coutourier, Nelson or Dvorak. :p
We never said that about Drouin...Same thing was said about Drouin ,, look at where he plays now ,, on your first line !!
Necas also shouldn’t get you a player like Rantanen, but here we are.Nucks fans still think they are getting a quality player like necas for miller
Come one now,, you guys were saying that you would never trade Drouin for a bag of pucks. We never said that about Drouin...
Nah. I think we had hopes we would do exactly what we did: scoop him up on the cheap because of the Mack connection once you guys ran him out of townCome one now,, you guys were saying that you would never trade Drouin for a bag of pucks.

No interestIf Colorado does intend on using Necas at center, I wonder if Mittelstadt and futures to Pittsburgh for Rakell makes sense. It would allow Colorado to run with this top-9 when healthy:
Drouin-MacKinnon-Rakell
Lehkonen-Necas-Nichushkin
Colton-Drury-O'Connor
While it gives the Penguins a long-term 2C to replace Malkin after next year and more futures. IMO that 3rd line does need a bit more help but that top-6 looks lethal.
If they ain’t in it to win it, time to sell the team.Anyone else catch Friedman say that the avs are not comfortable spending to the new cap limit? Gotta think that will piss off Mack if true
I'd assume that's to do with being mindful of Cale extensions & Landy/Nuke uncertainty.Anyone else catch Friedman say that the avs are not comfortable spending to the new cap limit? Gotta think that will piss off Mack if true

Yea I was surprised to hear that, I am trying to find the clip again to make sure I heard it right. It was on sportsnet panelIf they ain’t in it to win it, time to sell the team.
Yeah, Rantanen, Pastrnak, Draisaitl type finisher. But hey, teams just don't give up players like them on their prime years. They need a guy like Rantanen
I would do Gourde for Mittelstadt in a heartbeat, and I would be incredibly impressed if that managed to be pulled off, even if there was something else coming from us too (I don't see Gourde having that kind of value even if I think he can fetch a 1st himself at the deadline).
You clearly misunderstood what he said.
The Avs are spending well over the cap this year, close to next years cap quite frankly.
Hahaha! The Avalanche are not getting JT Miller for a package of those two players. That’s a dreamland trade that won’t happen in reality.Posted it in the other thread, but:
Miller for Mittlestadt, Drury, multiple non-1st round picks
VAN can then make follow-up moves. They may keep Mittlestadt and/or Drury, they might move one or both for an upgrade at C or D.
Avs end up with these lines:
Drouin-MacK-Necas
Lehk-Miller-Nichushkin (eventually)
Wood-Colton-O'Connor
Kelly-Parssinen-Kiviranta
That’s horrible for the Flames. WOW!!!I’ve been saying:
Mitts+Ritchie
Kadri+ Andersson
makes a lot of sense for both teams. But the Flames never make moves that are short term losses.
Found the segment. Listen from the 4:50 mark. He is saying this trade is a sign the Avs won't be comfortable using all their cap as it goes up or did I misunderstand that? Like another poster said could be cause of LTIR uncertainty but it could also be kroenke, he cheaped out last couple years on the nuggets too.
Sakic will point to the fancy analytics card that shows Makar without MacKinnon is basically a Walmart version of Gostisbehere. And Makar will sign for 9 millions. Easy.I think he's just saying that there will be a group of teams that won't be comfortable spending to the cap. I don't think he's saying the Avs are necessarily in that group, or that trading Rantanen is a sign of anything like that. I can see how you think he's implying something, but it really feels totally unrelated to me.
Even with the cap going up, the Avs still have Makar's contract coming up, which is going to be huge, and will be signing/resigning guys as the cap hits go up. They should have no trouble staying pretty close to the cap for the foreseeable future, even if they aren't right up against it.
I think what this trade really signifies is that the Avs don't think you can be successful with 40+% of the cap tied up in 3 players, which is where they were headed. This lets them spend money on upgrades for other parts of the lineup, and I'm hoping the pro scouts have a few more tricks up their sleeves to do just that.
