Necas is going to get every opportunity to be that missing 2C. They may not do it the first game or two, just to get his feet wet, but he’s been pretty open about wanting to play C and now he’s been traded to a team with that opening.
Reminds me of when Bennett was traded to Florida, and the pundits all said he was nothing more than a Bottom 6 winger, even Zito said he saw Bennett on the wing long term, but Wennberg wasn't cutting it at 2C, so Bennett got the opportunity for the final 15 games of the season, and he's never lined up at W since.

Is this a joke?
ya its a joke , im going on comedy tour . mean while what do you think late 2nds , 50 somethins , are worth ? and how important do you think bringing back an ex av who did good as their 2C would be the next few seasons at 3.5 plus ejecting a bad contract would be to avs ?

He didn't do good as a 2C at all, he did good as a 3C. Our last memory of him is when he got pulverized as a 2C in the playoffs.

Avs are going to struggle to compete with other teams for rentals like Nelson because they lack a 2025 1st round pick, unless they put their top prospect on the trade block (Calum Ritchie). Seems a bit rich for a rental. They don't have a lot of top roster players for big game hunting on the trade market. Necas is the biggest prize, but then it kind of defeats the purpose of the Rantanen trade.

You can't possibly think Miller has higher trade value than a guy nearly a decade younger than him, almost as productive and doesn't sulk
1. Miller isn't "nearly a decade" older than Necas. Age difference is 5 years and 10 months. A bit of an exaggeration there.

2. Miller has been a PPG+ player since Necas joined the league. Necas has been better this season, but has slowed down after a hot start, and Miller has had a down year by his standards (still almost PPG). So "almost as productive" looks like a bit of recency bias to me.

Haha Detroit actually signed Compher to that contract.
inform us of their better options during a rebuilding era where yzermans building team culture and reinforcing team leader larkins position with other vet hockeytown locals that play a hustling two way game which yzerman is bringing the kids up on ????????? not to mention an era where cap space doesnt really matter much as dettroits not winning no cup right now . mean while tell us about the better ufa options on the market ??????? there was trochek who i think signed with kings whom i doubt wanted to play here and that was about it in a time yzerman needed a center . why fools still critique yzerman i could never tell you , people act like there has ever been anybody that built an nhl club overnite

His ask was in double digits for a long term deal before this season and as RFA and before he broke out…
As an UFA and his current production and the rising cap he will ask for more than Avs offered Rantanen.
Just saying…
I guess it never hurts to ask but what would he have been basing it on? Career highs of 71 raw points, 28 raw goals and 0.87 ppg. Barely over 0.5 ppg in the playoffs. Five full seasons behind him so it's not like he had some tremendous untapped potential, either, even if he probably hasn't played his career year yet. Drafted 12th overall so just quite the top draft pedigree (arguably top5 or so). Zero award points. What was his agent thinking?

So basically 6 years.

In 2 years let alone 6, Necas will be levels better than. Sorry man. Not even close in a 1 for 1 value anymore. Miller is nearly 32. Necas just turned 26. Necas trending up, Miller downwards, but hey what do I know.

Kind of wondering if the remariage of Kadri and Colorado is possible.

Win-now mode in Colorado. While Naz makes 7M, it’s fair value. He’s still a tremendous player.

We’ll gladly take Mittelstadt and any bad money needed to make it work. Without joking, I think the Avs would be right back to cup favourite with that kind of move.

Josh Anderson could be great for Colorado , he's a power forward for playoffs. Kind of guy that Colorado needs in my opinion.

Yep, Josh Anderson is the center we are looking for.

Lehkonen, Drouin, Kotkaniemi...
Avs are trying to assemble the 2020-2021 Habs Stanley Cup Final run
We can trade you a Armia, a Gallagher or a Anderson, if you are collecting them all

I don't think Avs trade Necas for Miller.

They would have just done Rantanen for Miller or a 3 way where Necas goes to Vancouver. With Chicago retaining as a 4th team.

I think any Miller to Colorado if it happens involves Middlestat ++
