Just 1 game but holy hell what a perfect fit.

What a difference a BIG 2C makes on a team. Just a totally different dynamic. Instant chemistry with Val and Drouin. Do not touch that line for a little while please Bedsy.

He's a very fluid skater for a big man too. He has physical gifts at his size and a natural athleticism that Mitts could only dream of. He can put 50% effort into his stride to move in transition and around the zone, and get to the same speed that Mitts needed to gas himself out giving 100% with his happy feet.

Nobody should be worried about another Mitts situation here. It should have been known what level of player Mitts was based on his career, and it should be known what kind of player Nelson is based on his career.

Nelson is a 3x 30 goal scorer with a career high 37 goals in 72 games (42 goal pace). He's a 9x 20 goal scorer.

After his rookie season (14 goals in 72 games) Nelson has only had 2 of 11 seasons where he didn't score 20+ goals. One he scored 19. The other he had 18 goals in 56 games, a 26 goal pace.

Mitts has NEVER scored 20 goals before. His career high is 18 goals last year and his highest pace is 20 goals with 10 in 41 games. He was on pace for 14 this year.

It feels to me he may get the Colorado bump in production too. I think his talent has been held back on Long Island, and had much less skilled linemates. He could have some career years here if he stays.

A 1-3 year deal could benefit both the Avs and Nelson. He gets multiple runs at the Cup and then he can retire with Minny if he wants. They're not contending right away anyway.

Please take this courting period to the MAX Sakic and CMac and re-sign this guy ASAP.
