So this trade means Crosby isn't coming....?

It’s just rough paying the top asset in your organization and a first round pick for a rental.

The goal is all in for a cup run, and make no mistake, we are well equipped for a cup run, we arguably have one of the best top 6 lines in all of hockey, forwards can be mixed depending on situation between both of our centers, all the forwards work great with either center, those 2 lines are going to be a nightmare for other teams.

To give us the chance this gives us, the high price is worth it, but it’s still potentially a first and our top prospect for a guy who walks.
I will keep parroting it, but I think Gulyayev has been the best prospect the Avs have for awhile now. He's playing in a big time league and doing well.

For this cup run, if we could move Mitts for a better fit at third line center and a pick, that would really seal the deal for this year.

Paying 2 guy’s 4+ million on your third line and neither are great at penalty kill, is expensive.

Not sure we can deal Mitts without knowing what we can do with Brock next year though, don’t want to be left with no option for second line center next year.

Giving up your top prospect in any deal is a high price to pay, and frankly I’m one who isn’t convinced Ritchie will really pan out.

That said, it had to be done. Hopefully the Avs capitalize on this.

I still think they’re not done though.
Vaclav Nedorost was the Avs top prospect once upon a time. I feel the same way about trading that guy as I do Ritchie today.

I’m really not sure why we’re worried about 1st round picks and prospects like Ritchie. Ritchie is not a franchise center, so when it’s time to rebuild, we weren’t gonna build around him. And late 1st round picks aren’t gonna do anything for us while we have Nate and Cale and trying to win another cup.
This. When the Avs are ready to rebuild they will not be rebuilding around Ritchie and lets say they were they be in a 10 yr rebuild like the Sabres.

Are you saying we can't scout at all?! Yes you are 100% correct.
Cant draft yah. Just saying if the Avs top prospect is Ritchie thats not saying much. Hes not a blue chip cant miss prospect like Makar and Mikko were when the Avs had them in the stable. If the Avs traded one of those caliber prospects in a trade like this then yes its pitchforks and riot but that didnt happen tonight.

Ooooohhhh boy he actually did it wow! This is awesome.

Big price but that's what you have to do to win a bidding war when you're all in. I'm glad CMac is giving the team the best shot possible this year, and leaving no stone unturned.

Avs fans: "We need to be all-in. Have to get a 2C at any cost."

CMac lands literally the #1 center on the market without giving up anything from the pro roster.

Also Avs fans: "That's too much! WTF overpayment!"

Hilarious isn't it. Nobody should be losing sleep over Ritchie. Not sure why anyone is surprised either with how aggressive Cmac has been this year and knowing that he said they were all-in.

The path to the Stanley cup final now goes through Denver.

I realy hate it! Damm Ritchie was our long term solution. This is sabotage.

Who cares about the long term right now? By the time Ritchie is anything more than a third line winger the Avs window will have closed.

A guy like Ritchie at cost control who will be ready to contribute next year could be so valuable

With the rising cap and having Necas' contract instead of Rantanen's makes Ritchie's ELC considerably less critical. The Avs are going to have plenty of capspace next season even without Ritchie.

Islanders won this trade already. Relieved as a Jets fan because I didn't want us to trade for Nelson.

I am predicting Brock Nelson is going to be the biggest disappointment amongst trades go at the deadline.

Winnipeg's path out of the central just got much harder.

f*** it. f*** Ritchie. We have a top 3 center in the world in his absolutely prime and the #1 defensman in the world. Blow the whole f***ing wad this year and next year for a cup. We won't regret it even if we don't win it. We're not gonna get a MacKinnon and Makar combo again.

This ^

I don't think people really understand that we have 2-3 seasons to max out our window. Then we'll have 2-3 mediocre seasons. And then suck for like 5. It's what is going to happen. I don't give a shit about these current assets. They wouldn't be useful for multiple years. And what do some guys want? To have Cal Ritchie scoring 40 points as the Avs miss the playoffs multiple seasons in a row.

Maximize the team NOW.

And this ^
