Isles fan coming in Peace.

Brock Nelson aka Sheriff aka The Rev is such an underrated player. He hardly missed any games in his isles career. He’s a low maintenance guy and can play anywhere in the line up and with anyone. Hes beast suited as #2 center.

He plays on all 3 zones. His best attribute is his shot. Crazy accurate wrister. He plays PP and PK. Just an all around consistent 2way goal scoring center.

Take care of him and good luck! Hope you guys win the cup!!

I hope Ritchie does well for you guys. We definitely owe ya'all for Toews.

Come hang for the cup run f***ers. Someone tell Roy where the party is too.

Winning a cup is very hard. Even if this move only increases Avs chances of winning from 5% to 15% it's worth it.

Wasting an open cup window because your GM wants to be the smartest guy in the room and getting the better of every other GM or he won't make a move is inexcusable.

Objectively we overpaid for a rental, but I don't care.

It’s really amusing how Tampa gives up two 1st round picks and a roster player for Gourde and Bjorkstrand, and everyone thinks Tampa GM is a genius, it’s an amazing deal and stuff, but we gave up a good not great prospect and a 1st round pick and a 3rd for a really good established top 6 center, and some people on the main board think we overpaid too much. The Avs hate is real

I look at it this way. Does Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar give a shit about Cal Ritchie and a 1st round pick or do they give a shit about making a run at the cup and adding to their HOF legacy? Im 99% its the latter. Didnt Mackinnon say he would trade all the first round picks for Lehky?

Why?
Why what?

I have no issues getting Nelson, or the price we paid, because he’s a perfect fit on our second line.

Mitts isn’t gritty enough to be a third line center. If we are planning on him getting his game back and being our second line center next year, then keeping Mitts is fine. If keeping Brock next year, who is a better fit next to Drouin than Mitts is, then I would want a bigger, better fit, for third line.

If we keep Nelson, there would be no place on this team for Ritchie.

Really hope we keep him on a 2-3 year extension.

I think @RoyIsALegend is too high on Nelson but you're too low. We'll all meet in the middle.
Statistically, going after the best rental very rarely works out. When Avs won in 2022, we didn't go after the best rentals at all. We made shrewd moves for players to fix our holes by giving a ton of prime assets, but also had years left. This move isn't shrewd at all, it is just going after the best player. Yes, he fixes a hole we have, but I suggest we could have done better.

To be fair, they combined for 2 points tonight. Nelson did nothing for the Avs

Haha this f***ing site is hilarious.

We've apparently been wasting years of Mack and Mak primes.

But also fawning over some prospect who may or may not have panned out.

Do you want to win it now or not? Ritchie doesn't help us at all right now.

CMac has massive cajones this year. Let's go.

They must have pulled this deal because how Ritchie played in the World Championship.. I didn't think much of him either. It was disappointing. Who knows. This could be disastrous move.

Trade Mitts and Wood and whatever else not nailed down for Marchand and Carlo
Marchand, Zacha and Carlo lmao

To paraphrase the Tampa GM: Better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.
Tampa can draft, so they have no problem getting rid of 1sts, 2nds, or 3rds, when they're able to find an NHL player in the 4th round. I am not talking about a top 6 forward or top 3 defenceman here, but good depth pieces to go along with their stars. So, they always have a depth piece on the cut of replacing someone they will eventually lose to UFA or age. We do not have that luxury.

No they did this deal because of what it takes to win now.

If you need to your balls fondled to feel more comfortable go to an Asisn spa.

Bro, I don't get paid and I am not going to waste my time on figuring out who that is. Avs know the market, they have trained personnel at all levels, including the insight where players are available or off limits based on rumblings or phone conversations they have had. A lot of teams didn't even know that Lehkonen was available, but Avs got it done.

The Avs traded the best rental this year.

Mikko f***ing Rantanen.

Cmac has balls.

The Avs of 2022. Didn't have massive gaping holes to be filled (after all they were a hockey team not DudeWhereIsMakar's whore of a mother).

When you have massive holes in the top of the roster you need to pay big value to fill them. Another Lars Eller or three doesn't do shit when the team didn't have adequate play from the 2C spot.

You either have to pay big or go home. Cmac paid up.

I would rather have seen the Avs in any of the last three years pay BIG. Like Newhook (who still had value) and Byram and multiple firsts to get a longer term sure thing solution.

Not this Colton Mitts bullshit.

What people missing from the Tampa and Vegas model is they paid big futures for big name players but keep those players through their competitive years. Eichel Stone etc are a bigger step than fricking Brock Nelson.

But for one year this roster looks pretty damn good.
