the difference between Colorado and jets in playoffs is that mckinon and makar are elite,and when you have elite with passion and drive you have a hard to control force that creates a draft for the team to follow, jets don't have that,and people saying Connor,nope.

Ahh yes that scoundrel, McCowan. I too lived thru that and I am still not over it.
I still think he would have been a legend.
Crosby and Ovi are both legends despite the over analysis.
I try to enjoy the ride but do not think much has changed between this and last year's team save for the pp, which looks great.

Yep, the difference is passion, not that Mackinnon and Makar are the best in the world. Also, what about Schief and Helly, Jets best players.
I don't think the Jets have a makar or mcinnon,shief is a star but not elite, as for helly he has to go a notch higher in the po.but as a team anything can happen just look at the red mile year.
They don't, Mckinnon and Makar are the best in the league so 30 teams don't have them. Barkov and Tkachuk are not Mckinnon and Makar, yet Florida won the cup last year.
Makar is the closest to bobby orr that I have seen,I'm not saying he is bobby orr he is not,bobby orr was alot tougher and built like a tank with unmatched skill,but makar can take over alot of shifts.as for last years mismatch in the playoffs I don't think the Jets went to another gear and nick is a play killer with his dingle dangle fandango at the blue line and beyond,it baffles me year and year out,yes i know alot of ehlers fans here but im not one,just my personal observation,and I dont think dillon has been replaced. But you never count your moose until He is packed and in the boat and heading to camp,even then you can hit wave and be holding on for dear like lol
Avs should win it every year because they have 2 of the best players in the world. Yet, they don't. Hopefully we don't run into them and Dallas knocks them out as I think we match up better against Dallas. Hopefully regular season Helly becomes playoff Helly.
Either way it will be tough for Jets.

Who is Dallas's best player? Heiskanen? I'll take our leadership group vs. theirs and Hellebuyck vs. Oettinger, Same with Minnesota.
You can have a team that is your nemesis in the playoffs, like Vegas is for the Jets, and never get over that hump. For any of Vegas, Colorado or Edmonton you would have to matchup differently, they have different elements and degrees of superstars.
The Jets aren't a superstar team, but they have star power. Under Arniel's coaching I think there is a lot more importance on grinding it out, pucks below goal lines, win zone time. Then win special teams. Have to be well conditioned to do it night in night out. ,With some good depth. 4 line hockey. But still not 3 defensive rotations, more top 4 reliant. Reliant on goaltending to make the difference.
I think some might concider tkachuk and barkov elite in playoffs lol.connor is a one dimensional player,a great goal scorer especially on the power play but is not a play driver.he is not a bare down and make it happen,lowery and Morrissey are very consistent in the playoffs with their passion,effort and grind.but I'm not saying jets can't win it all just that they are going to need everyone pulling on the same rope and luck on the injury front,unfortunately they need a top d and center.
If you look at the numbers this year Connor is playing a great 2 way game. He also has more assists than goals hardly one dimensional
But not a true superstar taking a game over.

I think you are underrating the change in Connor's game this year. He is playing in all 3 zones and he is driving play.
Yes, they do need a top RD and and a 2C. Every team needs something. And the winner will need to have everyone pulling on the same rope and luck on the injury front.
I don't see much improvement in Connors board work,I do see him pay more attention to the defensive side of the game but still feel he is cheating more on the offensive side of the defensive back check also think he has to many for my liking stops along the offensive board instead of battling through,but hey if he brings it in playoffs and is a leader and play driver I will take it.but he is no where near his matador first years.
He does cheat for offense sometimes, but, that hardly makes him one dimensional if he is not good at board work. Even if he is not great defensively it’s still a dimension of his game and non-existent.
Board work is one dimension.
He steals the puck, he passes the puck he shoots the puck at an elite level, all of those are dimensions. He is not the power forward you want, fine, but, that doesn’t make him one dimensional.
I doubt he is a leader, but, he doesn’t need to be with many other leaders n the team. Nor is he the primary play driver, but, doesn’t make it non-existent element.
Therefore, your legit points would be more fair criticisms of his if you didn’t engage in hyperbole and say that he is one dimensional.
Crosby's generational. Ovi's more of a Brett Hull on steroids.
Hawerchuk was a Top 5 player in the 80s. Gretzky was so far ahead it's ridiculous. Lemieux was the only other player even in the conversation with Gretzky. Then there was a group of similarly elite players and Hawerchuk is in that group.
I don't think he is one dimensional, I have said he is a very good offensive player which is shooting,passing and quickness,but i was answering to someone saying play driver,and I don't think I ever thought of him as a hard nosed leader,but if that's hyperbole in your world have at man,we don't view games and players the same way, and that's OK with me,and I would never put anything but my own thoughts on what I see. Because I watch the games for me,but I will be honest I don't watch a quarter as much since grudge games and hitting became extinct, the league is watered down from when I never missed a game or traveled 1000's of miles a year to watch live,or getting up at 5 to take the kids 100 miles for a practice.

Also Connor has been driving play a fair bit this season. I know you just said you don’t watch every game so you might have missed the improvement in his play.

Ya he is an offensive player and what dimension goes into that,but I love Luke schenn but I won't conflate his offence in any discussion. But I don't really care for Connors style but that's me,when the Jets last won the avco cup and Kent magic man was on the team I watched Terry ruskoski and followed the beat of clackers corner.when Boston beat Vancouver I cheered for Boston and thought Marchand took a beating to get in Vancouvers head especially the sedins.so you can see why I'm not tripping on Connor,that's why I like watching Kevin he and barlow they have some angry dog in their game,at least comparative to today's standards,and it doesn't help that I come from the bush camps were it is stand your ground or go home,it's the style I like.
That’s fair that he’s not your style. I hate Marchand, but, he is a legitimately good player.
