Yeah that's probably why they want to improve the experience. Just a theory.
In theory, yes. An elected official who is the farthest thing from ultra progressive was in favor of bike commuting until he tried it for a few weeks.

Bike lanes don't make the weather constantly 64 degrees with no humidity and no rain. This guy is an avid cyclist, but says in Charlotte summer, biking is a pain in the ass because you sweat buckets.

Bike lanes don't include showers in office buildings. He was told a few times that he wasn't all that pleasant to be around even after wiping down and changing. Wasn't fair to his co-workers.

Bike lanes cannot prevent motor vehicles from making right hand turns through the bike lane itself. Someone has to cede right of way, or create delayed lights which could add a lot of time to commutes for both the vehicle driver and the bicyclist.

Just saying, this guy went into it with good intentions and came out of it realizing that certain realities are out of anyone's control, and other than spending potentially billions on improvements for what amounts to 2% of the population while inconveniencing the other 98%, it's really a non-starter. He's not opposed to bike lanes for safety, he now can see why they aren't as practical as they may seem.

Personally, I find cyclists and bike lanes to be an irritation.

But the reason it is so difficult to make cities more walk-able or bike-able or to increase mass transit (or do pretty much anything that make cities safer and easier to navigate) is because we've spent generations making it that way. So instead we try to smash old and new paradigms together to the detriment of everyone.

A time honored tradition in this country is to make something difficult to use or completely broken and then act perplexed when it doesn't work and shocked at the effort it will take to fix it.

I don’t look the other way. I just don’t make it my mission to follow the guy like you do. Which is fine.

Why can’t I bring up his lack of on ice suspensions but you can bring up things that took place in the locker room? Locker room shit talking happens all the time. Avery is a hall of fame shit talker. I didnt say he was a good guy for not being suspended. I said his having no suspensions certainly works in his favor in this debate. There is far worse going on in the game than Avery and that includes when he was playing. I don’t think real pieces of shit put themselves out there when it wasn’t that accepted to say things like gay people should be treated with equality. He has a character and he plays to it to get some heat. It works because some people love to hate him.
Many people who have known him personally can't stand him. That tells me he ain't a good guy, but you are entitled to feel otherwise.

He knew exactly what he was doing when he came to NY. Everything was calculated.
He had enough ability to have a long and successful career in the NHL. By being an idiot he cost himself millions of dollars.

I didn't say he didn't know exactly what he was doing, but you can know exactly what you are doing and still be a moron.

Did you ever meet him? Why judge someone based on what you think that other people think of him?

I don’t give two shits about Avery, but I’m not going to go around saying that he’s a bad dude when I never hung out with him.

What I think other people think of him?

Did you follow any of this discussion? It's what those who KNEW him personally SAID about him.

You only can say someone's a bad dude if you hung out with him? Really.

You can't think of any bad dudes you never hung out with? That's an utterly amazing statement.
