I agree for the most part, and I don’t think Jared is at fault for most of this teams issues. That is on the team depth more than anything imo.

Having said that coaches can get stale regardless of their talent and I can understand how some think it could be time to move on. It’s just unfortunate because there are clearly issues with this team right now and the easiest way to motivate them is with a coaching change yet it’s not really his fault.

All I can say to that crowd is I REALLY hope that they have a plan in place for a solid replacement because the grass is definitely not always greener….
It's not always greener, but this staff is completely struggling and the team isn't responding to them well. Sometimes you just have make a change.

I'd even settle for sending Bennett and Pratt out the door.

This team simply needs some new voices.

I get ya, the team is not consistent at all, and that includes our top guys. Not just effort level at times, although that can be questioned, but just plain decision making is all over the map for these guys. Something seems off and I don’t know if it’s the regular season grind for a veteran team or what, but it is inexcusable for a team with cup aspirations.

The team is collectively workmanlike in how they shrug off the losses while we look on, dejected at the fluctuating effort levels … i wonder if a playoff berth is too much of an assumption for them. It seems like they’re overly confident that “getting hot at the right time” is all they need to worry about.

Get rid of at least Bennett. We have the horses to have an amazing PP. Its not Pratt's fault we had Georgiev and had no dedicated PK dmen.

6 points up on Calgary for WC1, and 7 on Vancouver for WC2. They are probably safe unless they completely shit the bed and both of those two teams gets really hot in the 2nd half of the year. The next closest team is the B-Lose, who are 9 points back... but are currently leading Vegas midway through 2nd, 3-2.

Who would have guessed another horseshit performance.

This team sucks and doesn't give a shit.

Not sure why CMac and Sakic are continuing this farce of a team. They need to get off their asses and shake this team up in a major way. Fire some coaches make a major trade. Maybe both but something has to change.
I'll agree that a shake up of some sort is necessary. Standing pat is not going to work.

player usage is a problem but what is the alternative: more ice time for depth guys we constantly bitch about anytime they touch the puck? Who should get that ice time?

Makar 30:23 tonight after a serious blocked shot.

Toews 29:49

Next Dman was Girard at 17:54

Bednar is an idiot, and is reaping the rewards of his player usage.
We really need couple of solid d-men to replace de Haan and Middleton so that ice time can be spread out more evenly. Manson can be really good some games, and pretty bad in other games, today he was pretty bad. Girard is usually good, but he’s not a d-man you rely on to shutdown the opposition.

If CMac can somehow get 2 solid d-men, trade Malinski or whatever he needs to do, it will help limit the ice time of Cale and Toews. That 3rd pairing of de Haan and Middleton can’t be given too much ice time and relied on to play good defense.

Also I’m not really sold on Mitts even after that last game performance. Today he was invisible again. We simply need more consistent performance from a 2C. Nate can’t win us every single game, he’s only human.

Get 2 d-men, trade Mitts for a better 2C, get healthy, and it will be a different team. This is not a coaching issue as some people think. Maybe you can fault Bennett for the PP being bad, but I’m not ready to be on fire Bednar train.

Q really hasn't had success since leaving Chicago has he? Why are ya'all on team Q?
I mean he had the 20-21 Panthers finish 2nd in their division and make the playoffs then had to resign the following season.

I imagine he would have been great with them as Brunette/Maurice were/have been.

Regardless, Bednar isn't getting fired. I just wish someone in upper management would tear him a new asshole about how much he overplays top players.

No coach in the league in HISTORY has done what he does to his top guys. He is a psychopath.

Did Bednar told his players not to skate out there and don’t care? It’s on the players to play hard. No coach ever tells his team not to play hard. Unless the players are tired of Bednar and want him fired, but there is no evidence of that. If the team was really tired of Bednar and wanted him gone, they’d be losing more games and be out of the playoffs right now

Bednar ceratinly sounds like a coach who is out of ideas. Have teams ever fired assistants in season without also dumping the HC?

I'm not too concerned with the loss. You want them to play better, but B2B afternoon games and in the midst of a mid-season lull. If this performance happens in March/April then yes I'm worried.

Legit question though - has Mikko ever taken this team on his back when the they are down and turned it around by himself? In a situation that wasn't directly related to MacKinnon?

I certainly can't think of a time. Yet he wants 13M+ a season for playing with 2 of the best players in the world? Put any top 6 talent in that same role and they are producing at leas 3/4 of Mikko's numbers.
I can only think of the 22-23 season where Nate missed like 11 games and mikko went on a stretch of quality play

When you’re on win one lose one kind of stretch, it’s not a coaching issue. It’s players being inconsistent. Last game vs Dallas, Mitts and his line produced and we got a win. They were quiet in this game. Nate did his part by getting the game tied. Need that secondary scoring to help win games.

One good game performance is not enough from a 2C. Mitts needs to put together few games in a row where he produces, or we gonna keep losing one and winning one. That’s not on the coach
