I don't think we truly appreciate how valuable it was to discover him at this point in Landeskog's career even with the injury.

Also, regardless of what I originally asked, Kiviranta is not there for the goals. I mean, yes, the goals alone in my opinion should keep him in, but in my opinion he does his "primary job" pretty well too.

If Avalanche is going to lose a game, say, 1-0 to someone, I seriously don't think you point your finger at Kiviranta and say "you should have scored". You can point your finger at him and say that "one goal allowed, you did your job probably pretty well".

So yeah, it is nice to get depth scoring, but that's just a bonus. But if there's enough of that bonus, it in my opinion should alone be enough to keep the player in (ok, sure, assuming he doesn't badly damage the team in some other way by, say, taking constantly ultra stupid penalties).

I think it is too early to say. Kiviranta played last season playoffs well and if he repeats that, someone will pay him well.
