Crazy that Bura went from being a part of us winning a cup to playing on Seattle’s 4th line. I haven’t paid much attention to him since but has he really fallen off that far?

Bura and Grubauer were absolutely terrible signings for Seattle.

They also picked Donskoi in their expansion draft...who never played for them because he was concussed.

They'll probably stay away from our players. Just like Montreal with the Barron and Newhook experiments.

? He played in 75 games in their first year. Wasn't that good though, 22 points.

There was a recent interview with Donskoi actually. Apparently he had suffered a brain hemorrhage like in the playoffs of 2019, they only noticed it after his last concussion which ended his career in 2022. They did an MRI on his brain and the doctor was shocked because there was some dried blood visible in his brain, yet nothing on his record about him being in a serious accident or something. Apparently, some Avs doctors were telling him to reconsider putting on his skates again after the Lindgren hit.

He said that if it wasn't for his wife and kids, he would probably still want to try and make a comeback. He was severely depressed for a long time after forcing to be retired. Things are looking better now, after some stability and therapy. Currently lives in Minnesota, does some high-school hockey coaching (or college? not sure).

Brain damage is done, he still can't really go ride a boat and if he's a passanger on a car he can't use a phone, it just triggers massive nausea and headaches. Some other daily stuff as well. But overall, he's doing fine.

Man, I'm glad you ended by saying things are looking better. I really liked Jonas Donskoi. Dude was just a hard worker here with some surprising offense at times.

Not Russian though. Even his father had never lived in the Soviet Union or Russia
Oh, I didn't realize even his old man was never in Russia.

But yes, he's Swedish, not Russian. Someone either here or on Twixter said he has a "Southern" accent when he speaks?

Whatever though, I have no ill will with Burakovsky--dude was a good pickup and they bailed right when it was time to commit money and term to him. Seattle made the supreme mistake of thinking he was a primary scorer when he's actually a complementary winger who needs a star or two alongside him in order to work. Also, I don't think Seattle even has a good transition game, which is kind of the whole reason you'd want a Burky in the first place (I could be wrong on that though).

This level of sucking is new to Bura though. Oh well, he won twice, got paid.. what more can you ask from a career?
I mean, who's he got with him though? He's one of those guys who is phenomenal at skating the puck out of trouble and setting his linemates up for goals, all while occasionally sniping a few of his own (when he hits the net). But now he's on a club that loves to dump and chase, which is totally NOT how his game operates. And the lack of talent around him is simply mind-numbing. They're deadliest weapon is Jared f***ing McCann. I don't blame him if he's playing unmotivated right now, I would be too if I were him.

I disagree.
That is your right, but I think the only thing "Russian" about him is his last name. Three straight generations of Burakovskys have been born in Sweden and part of professional Swedish hockey. I don't think there was any Russian cultural influence in his life besides skating on the same team as Ovechkin

I feel responsible for Mitts struggles. I pumped his tires so much when he had that great start to the season, saying he was better than Kadri etc… I completely jinxed him. So allow me to say….

MY BAD YO!!!!

I'd say most people here have been super critical of Mack. We're all watching the games too. We can see Mack has not been playing at his best.
I'm not beating up on him but last nights 3rd star was motivated by a stat. Mack knew it was BS. He didn't even come out to acknowledge it.

I respect that.

These are facts. If I'm not mistaken, MacK ended his 1st shift very short against the Sharks and looked kinda slow to get off. Would have to re-watch to be sure. But if y'all remember, he got banged up a couple of times earlier in the season and his speed/mobility took a hit after those.
Agree completely. He's damaged yet still trying to play. He's a hockey player!

From 0-4 to 5-4. It happened. Three points that game. And that’s why this post is so incredibly passive aggressive.
Fine if that's how you want to see it. I was just more impressed at how our goalie handled the situation. He gives the guys confidence.

MacKinnon's effort alone on the 2nd Avs goal ensured we weren't losing this game and that's good enough for me.
Yep. And I saw some pretty damn good goaltending out there too.

While I agree Mack hasn’t looked great, the difference is Mack is still finding ways to at least contribute and offensively, while Mitts is struggling with everything.

If it is some sort of injury, he needs to sit until it’s better. The way he’s playing, we’re better off with Colton or Ivan in his spot.
I get it and agree. I was arguing for our net minder. Both tenders have made a tremendous difference.
