Crazy that Bura went from being a part of us winning a cup to playing on Seattle’s 4th line. I haven’t paid much attention to him since but has he really fallen off that far?

He's also dealt with some ridiculously bad injury luck. Good chance he's pretty broken down at this pointGot his Cup, got paid, went to a bad team, turned full blown unmotivated Russian.
I think this is the case for him. The injuries just kept mounting and eventually turned him into what we see now. He's also dealt with some ridiculously bad injury luck. Good chance he's pretty broken down at this point
He’s been hurt like his entire tenure in Seattle. I’d bet his body is just failing him at this point.Crazy that Bura went from being a part of us winning a cup to playing on Seattle’s 4th line. I haven’t paid much attention to him since but has he really fallen off that far?
Bura and Grubauer were absolutely terrible signings for Seattle.Crazy that Bura went from being a part of us winning a cup to playing on Seattle’s 4th line. I haven’t paid much attention to him since but has he really fallen off that far?
? He played in 75 games in their first year. Wasn't that good though, 22 points. They also picked Donskoi in their expansion draft...who never played for them because he was concussed.
Man, I'm glad you ended by saying things are looking better. I really liked Jonas Donskoi. Dude was just a hard worker here with some surprising offense at times.? He played in 75 games in their first year. Wasn't that good though, 22 points.
There was a recent interview with Donskoi actually. Apparently he had suffered a brain hemorrhage like in the playoffs of 2019, they only noticed it after his last concussion which ended his career in 2022. They did an MRI on his brain and the doctor was shocked because there was some dried blood visible in his brain, yet nothing on his record about him being in a serious accident or something. Apparently, some Avs doctors were telling him to reconsider putting on his skates again after the Lindgren hit.
He said that if it wasn't for his wife and kids, he would probably still want to try and make a comeback. He was severely depressed for a long time after forcing to be retired. Things are looking better now, after some stability and therapy. Currently lives in Minnesota, does some high-school hockey coaching (or college? not sure).
He was either getting really really hot for a handful of games or really really cold. Dude had no middle.Man, I'm glad you ended by saying things are looking better. I really liked Jonas Donskoi. Dude was just a hard worker here with some surprising offense at times.
Not Russian though. Even his father had never lived in the Soviet Union or RussiaGot his Cup, got paid, went to a bad team, turned full blown unmotivated Russian.
Oh, I didn't realize even his old man was never in Russia. Not Russian though. Even his father had never lived in the Soviet Union or Russia
Grew up playing hockey in MalmöBut yes, he's Swedish, not Russian. Someone either here or on Twixter said he has a "Southern" accent when he speaks?
I mean, who's he got with him though? He's one of those guys who is phenomenal at skating the puck out of trouble and setting his linemates up for goals, all while occasionally sniping a few of his own (when he hits the net). But now he's on a club that loves to dump and chase, which is totally NOT how his game operates. And the lack of talent around him is simply mind-numbing. They're deadliest weapon is Jared f***ing McCann. I don't blame him if he's playing unmotivated right now, I would be too if I were him. This level of sucking is new to Bura though. Oh well, he won twice, got paid.. what more can you ask from a career?

That is your right, but I think the only thing "Russian" about him is his last name. Three straight generations of Burakovskys have been born in Sweden and part of professional Swedish hockey. I don't think there was any Russian cultural influence in his life besides skating on the same team as OvechkinI disagree.
