Just like how that whole "draft character" players got them Bleakley when Pastrnak was right there.
Was gonna post this at some point but I'm in agreeance here. I think it's just too late in the season for this to happen but I definitely think it should have happened. Let him ride this year out at this point and just hope.

Do you really think a different coach is gonna make a difference for a team that has so many holes? Again, this team is in a wildcard spot because it is a wildcard roster. Nothing more nothing less. I’m not sure what a different coach can do. We’re not under or overachieving. We are where we supposed to be with the way the current roster is constructed

Sadly, it feels like it closed either when they punted the 22-23 season or when Bednar ground the top guys to dust last year and they had nothing left by the Dallas series
Time for Bednar to go. This season is a throwaway with all the holes anyways but they need a new voice to get them at least motivated. Watching a losing team isn’t the problem. Watching one that looks like it doesn’t care at all and is wasting Mack and Makar is rough

I don't disagree. I've been pounding the table since we lost to SEA that we needed new ideas and new assistants.
Is it just me or do players gradually get worse the more time they spend with this coaching staff?

I don't believe they get worse but I do believe this team misses one coach in particular: Shawn Allard.
I think it's telling that Nathan MacKinnon sought Adam Oates out for skill improvement whereas when this guy was here, he was seemingly a godsend for working on things skating and skill-wise.
The Avs just don't have the same mix they used to.

Half of our players would get a rude awakening from Coach Q when it comes to work ethic and effort.
Either they will smarten up or you ship them out in the summer and give him guys that will bust their asses.

The problem with this is that Bednar is the goddamn f***ing coach. Let’s be real here, these guys are struggling, but it’s not like they’re completely devoid of talent. Colton, Mitts, Parssinnen (sp?), Drouin - whether you hate them or not - have potential to contribute, we’ve literally seen it. It’s the coaches job to put his players in a better position to produce.
Coaches like Jon Cooper, Sullivan (although the penguins kinda suck), and Bruce Cassidy, for example, still get the most out of the players even when their plan A stops working.
Wasn’t there a Finnish article where Kivi said that in dallas they were more structured whereas with the Avs it’s more loose and player-dictated? That’s really the problem with Bednar. When plan A is working the Avs are seemingly unstoppable. When plan A is nullified his next move is to play Mack and Makar 30 mins and shuffle the lines a bit instead of actually changing the structure of the team’s play

Seems like for Mac, Makar and Toews the 4 nations was their "highlight" this year.
We are not going anywhere with these players and coaching staff.
Time to accept the inevitable...

If you cant change the gameplan to suit your players dont even bother.
The players can play hockey fine, just not the free flow high IQ one. And when they are tired they suck ass so much trying it, its horrible to watch.
