Forget the athletes. Collectively that entire crowd looks like they have been through the wringer.

Wouldn't it be wild if Zverev and Keys, in other words, the two players generally considered the best of their gender never to have won a GS, achieved the feat in the same tournament. That would be a real head shaker.

Rewatched the breaker. Keys won 5 of the last 6 points including two massive unreturnable serves to get her to match point.

Yeah, if it is a normal seven-point tie breaker Swiatek wins the match.

Oh yeah but the point you made about Keys winning a ton of points consecutively was the point she also made as well.

I think Novak beats him tonight but I also can't see how he would beat Sinner unless Sasha has the 2 best serving games of his life which I mean it's doable

Given Zverev's nerves and history of underachievement in GSs, it is almost impossible to see him knocking off Djokovic AND Sinner back to back this deep in a GS. Not quite outside the realm of possibility, but very much a distinct long shot. After Jannik's performance against Demon, I find it hard to believe anyone could beat Sinner right now. Maybe his body could betray him or he could turn an ankle, but if he is right physically, he is alone in his own separate tier.

It feels like Keys should’ve won one of these slams over the years. Might be the year she has everything clicking at the right time. I think she’s one of the few that can match Sabalenka’s power, but she can also be very erratic and just spray the ball everywhere. Sabalenka has the edge, but if Keys is on she could give her a test.

I could see Zverev winning, but it’ll still be difficult. Beating Djokovic and then (likely) Sinner is difficult. Can totally buy he beats one of the two. Two of the two seems more difficult. Medvedev has done this a few times in recent years when he plays spoiler to some combo of Sinner, Djokovic, Alcaraz finals, and then he lays an egg in the final because he had nothing left. Could see Zverev denying us a Djokovic-Sinner final, but then losing to Sinner in 3.

Keys would've won Wimbledon last year if hamstring doesn't pop v Paolini late and causing her to withdraw. Also the US open match v Sabalenka in 2023 was a pretty bad choke too by her, Zverev like lol. I think she would've done better v Coco and probably won since it seems like Sabalenka got rattled a bit by the pro Coco crowd at the US Open for that final

My worry is that injury Novak got could hamper him on returns a bit, a lot of adrenaline and pain killers were probably helpful in the Alcaraz match but once you come down from all of that stuff, it's a bit tougher to regain that level. It's f***ing Novak so if anyone can do it, it's him but I still worry a bit. Zverev also has been knocking on the door for years so I wouldn't be surprised if we got Sinner/Zverev. But agreed, no one is beating Jannik at this rate.

The loss to Stephens in the US Open final is the one that sticks with me. She was better than Stephens at that time. Just didn't have it that day.
