There will be a long line of GMs foaming at the mouth to get this guy if he was seriously available.Who would realistically want a guy that makes $13M and doesn’t care about his job?

yea they will look awesome on the IR together.....
Particularly the market that they play in. The pressure in Trona in hockey is like no other market.Matthews would be the best player on majority of teams, we all know that…but a team will never win a cup w him running the show. He doesn’t have that in him. You need to be able to take control, have guys feed off your play, your intensity, showing teammates how to leave it all on the ice after every game. The playoffs is a different animal. A lot of top players don’t have that ability to step up in the playoffs, take on that pressure and prove that you can handle it. I just don’t see it in Matthews or Marner. It’s almost like the pressure is too much for them.
counter :Caps offer Strome on a great contract, Ryan Leonard, Rasmus Sandin for Matthews
This is probably Toronto asking for too much (or is it? IDK) but maybe could be used as a starting point? I'm assuming Buffalo fans will refuse to give up both the goalie prospect swap AND the forward prospect, and will counter with only one of them (or with neither).
to Buffalo Sabres
Auston Matthews
Morgan Rielly
Nick Robertson
Topi Niemela (if BUF wants included)
Ryan Reaves (if BUF wants included)
prospect (GK) Hildeby
to Toronto Maple Leafs
Tage Thompson
Owen Power
Jack Quinn
Jason Zucker or Peyton Krebs
Sam Lafferty
prospect (C) Ostlund or Helenius
prospect (GK) Levi
2026 BUF 3rd Round Pick
Matthews with a full no move is going to be a tough move because that clause with that cap is going to kill the team’s leverage.
Hfboard has some of the wildest takes... yes, the Kings make that trade without any hesitationKings will not trade Byfield and Kempe for your losers.
I am 100% agree with your opinion.Matthews needs to go to a team that'd be happy with just making the playoffs. Toronto should let Marner go and get picks and prospects for AM.

I went on your team board and watched how much Toronto fans hate him now.Hfboard has some of the wildest takes... yes, the Kings make that trade without any hesitation
Leafs fans are very reactionary. I think in a US market he probably thrives betterI went on your team board and watched how much Toronto fans hate him now.
You are so confident that Kings ready to commit hockey suicide just because you do not want to have Matthews on your team during playoffs.
It is very noble approach.
You call reactionary the same reaction for the last 5 years?Leafs fans are very reactionary. I think in a US market he probably thrives better

You are saying that all these people want to keep Matthews on your team? You understand that’s at most 100 people. Probably like 20. Out of a fanbase of what 25-30 million?
Heck there are about 8 million people in the Toronto catchment
You are saying that all these people want to keep Matthees on your team?
This is really good and I agree with this approach.
Kings fans base is much, much smaller, but we really like our young players and want to keep them.
If you want Kopitar and Doughty we can talk.
Who would realistically want a guy that makes $13M and doesn’t care about his job?
I am glad that Toronto fans are happy with their team.1.) fiala is older than Matthews.
2.) yes the team wants to keep Matthews.
3.) the team also wants to keep Marner.
4.) the kings are one of the only teams with a worse record of futility than Toronto in the “Matthews era”
Losing to the same team 4 times in a row and 4 straight games is nuts. At least Toronto switches it up a bit.
Probably not happening, but okay. The fact that you think gms evaluate player worth based on what fans online say, says everythingYou call reactionary the same reaction for the last 5 years?
How will you feel if LA will do the following to the Leafs:
Kings will sign Marner for free.
They will make big OS for Knies, which Toronto will match decreasing their salary cap space.
This is only 2 real actions I can see happening between these 2 teams.
Switch out Protas with McMichael and I say dealcounter :
Strome + Protas + Leonard + Duhaime + Carlson
for
Matthews + Holmberg + Robertson + Rielly
