I'll say it, sure, some of Babcock's methods were archaic, but if we were still around and was able to see through his vision over his 8-year contract (and beyond), I am convinced the Leafs would have won a Cup by now.
It's kind of ironic how everyone was shitting on Babcock for being too harsh with some of his weirdo tactics, and were gushing over Keefe being a player's coach who would relate to and bring the best out of these guys, are now turning on Matthews, Marner and Nylander for being a bunch of sissy pansies who just can't get it done.
They went from a hardass coach, to a player's coach who coddled these guys, to now a tough as nails coach -- and none of them have gotten through to them. At some point, which would be now, you have to stop looking at everyone else and start to realize that these guys may indeed be the problem.
Something's gotta give, and it's gotta be drastic.
